E18: David & Julien From Club Champion Las Vegas | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3537

No. 18: Season 1 Episode 18 The Tiny Roundish Table We welcome to the podcast and the tiny rectangular table, David Rhoden and Julien Munoz from Club Champion Las Vegas. These two gentlemen work alongside each other for eight hours a day and have a fantastic friendship. You would think after spending that much time together and being so involved in the game of golf, sitting down to chat golf after-hours would be a deal-breaker. Lucky for us, they are just as passionate outside te fitting bays as they are inside them. Before we knew it, almost three hours of banter and hijinks had gone by in what seemed like minutes. We absolutely loved having David and Julien sit down with us. Their insight into the industry and the fitting world is so valuable and we plan on having them on again, as you’ll be able to tell, it was too much fun. They both have a great story on how they got into the industry and where they want to go from here. And, they are both solid, and I mean SOLID sticks! If you’re thinking it’s time to get fit to improve your game then you should certainly reach out to either David or Julien through the links below and get it set up. It is such a valuable asset to improve your score. And there isn’t two guys I could personally recommend more than them. Cyrus Janssen, or more notably known in the Instagram world as @cyruspga, has some incredible insight into golf in China. He also just so happens to be the front runner for the nicest human on the planet award. Cyrus has become friends with us over on the blog, and we’ve even tee’d it up in one of his most recent stays in Vegas. Hailing from Vancouver, Britsh Columbia, our friendly Candian neighbor to the North, has some incredible insight into the global world of golf. After spending ten years in China, he now calls Canada his home and is growing his legacy as an entrepreneur bringing business from the two sides of the world together. Sheshan Golf Club The majority of our conversation dealt with his time in China. At the young age of 25, Cyrus Janssen became the Head Pro at Sheshan, and it’s a fantastic story.  E16: Coverage of the Las Vegas PGA Show & The Tour Championship | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3355

No. 16: Season 1 Episode 16 Vegas PGA Show We didn’t get a chance to talk about the Vegas PGA Show since it happened, so before we dived into the Tour Championship banter, we covered a little bit about the show. What it is, what it isn’t, and how we feel about the event. There’s room for growth and Ryan had a fantastic idea to help get the unique, and smaller boutique brands involved. The Tour Championship Honestly, this could have been the entire episode. There is some much debate going on about the new format, and we wanted to have our opinions voice. Hence this episode. There are a ton of reactions from a lot of people out there, and we were fortunate enough to have two of the more prominent names in social media chime in with their own opinions. @PGAMemes and @Bryangolf both left us a voice mail (702-518-1864 USE IT!), and we listened, then talked about their views on how the Tour Championship could be better and if it should be better. For me, it’s all about Match Play for the finals. Ryan agrees, and so do a lot of other people. Ryan and I both want to thank Travis and Brian for calling in and being a part of the show. We love it when people call in, so keep those messages coming. The President Cup Not much to talk about here but we did bring it up since it is the biggest event on the future calendar of golf. Ryan’s Easter Eggs Hold up!! I’m taking over this week. As a show of appreciation, we are giving away one of the new Chasing Daylight T-Shirts you can find on The Breakfast Ball WEBSITE.  E15: Interviews from the Las Vegas PGA: TRUE Linkswear, Dormie Workshop, Asher Golf, Greenside Cigars | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2396

No 15. Season 1 Episode 15 PGA Show Interviews from Las Vegas This was fun, so much more than I thought it would be. I was a little nervous about how the audio would come out, but that’s is why you invest, heavily at times, in solid equipment! PGA Show, Vegas Style Every year in mid-August the PGA Show spends a couple of days here in Vegas. There’s been an evolution of this show and I feel like it is still trying to find its place in the industry. However, Sherry Major and her team are making great strides to have this show be something to attract buyers and sellers from all over. The fashion shoe at TAO nightclub I heard was amazing and I will not miss it next year, and the Demo night at TopGolf was the best it’s been in the three years it has been held there. I’m still not a fan of the balls you have to hit but, it is what it is. We had a blast walking the floor of the show at the Venitian and at the last minute, I decided to grab our audio recorder and bring it along. I’m so grateful I did. The audio came out great and we got some great content from several of our favorite brands. Links for this episode: TRUE Linkswear Dormie Workshop Greenside Cigars Asher Golf A big thank you for taking some time to chat with us! Cody and Blake from TRUE Linkswear. Jeff and Todd from Dormie Workshop. Ty and his amazing team at Greenside Cigars and Matt from Asher Golf. We really appreciate you all taking some time to chat about your brands during the PGA Show.  E14: Neal "Rohrs" Rohrbach from Strokes Gained Putters | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4083

No. 14: Season 1 Episode 14 Neal “Rohrs” Rohrbach joins Matt and Ryan for some golf chat One thing I knew we were going to love about this podcast was when our friends get to join us. I consider Neal to be one of my closest friends, and it was a blast to have him on the show. You may recall, if you follow the blog, Neal has had one hell of a year. Back in February, we published an article that Neal had written [Strokes Gained; The Story of My Iceberg] and it was meet with tremendous support. Now, however, Neal is back on track and firing up the machines once again. As he gets back to doing what he loves, some much, we honored, he took some time to chat with us. Making Putters and putting smiles on the faces of his customers In this episode, we learned something that was a complete surprise to both of us. Neal started Strokes Gained to fill the void Cameron left behind when he stopped using Carbon Steel. There was a significant enough demand from golfers who still love the soft feel, and the custom finishings. Neal was eager to fill their needs. Take those wants and desires and place them with Neals passion and history in the industry, and you have a winning combination. It was a blast getting Rohrs on the phone and let him let it loose on the golf industry. Giving him a format to drop quotes like: “You know I’m gaming an EvnRoll” made the entire interview priceless.  E13: John Billin from Ampcaddy | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2929

No. 13: Season 1 Episode 13 The Ampcaddy Bluetooth Speaker We are all familiar with the popular trend happening in the golf world. Music on the course. While some find it utterly obtrusive and unacceptable, there is a growing number of golfers who love the concept of music on the course. Please don’t think we are advocating the jerks out there who blast the music disrupting everyone around them. There’s a level of civility that needs to be maintained if you enjoy playing your music playlist while golfing. For the most part, the people we have encountered who play music have been respectful and understand this trend is something that needs to be cared for as it matures. You’re not going to change the golfing world by being a pompous ass and forcing your way into the game. Meet John, the man behind the birth of Ampcaddy John has a great story of how he came to be a player in this music on the course niche. In this episode, John joined Matt for some candid behind the scenes information on how Ampcaddy started, and what the future holds for them. Music on the course is a love it or hate it type of experience. John has some fantastic insight into the golf speaker space. He shared with us how he got started with Ampcaddy, his background with golf, and why he has the knowledge to grow this business. With the good, there comes some bad Unfortunately, there was some lousy press thrown in the direction of Ampcaddy. We thought it would be an excellent opportunity for John to share his thoughts on what happened with MyGolfSpy. We let him explain why he feels they could be doing so much more with the platform they have. If you’re looking for a hate speech on why MyGolfSpy is an awful company, don’t listen. John is very respectful and made it clear he has more things to concern himself with than some social media posts. He has a reputable company that is producing a fantastic product that is only getting better with time. When you take into consideration his background in golf and the audio industry, we hope you’ll get a better understanding of how poor a decision it was for MyGolfSpy to attack them.  E12: Travis Miller, otherwise know as PGAMemes | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3794

No. 12: Season 1 Episode 12 The hilarious PGA Memes We did it! Our first milestone for the Chasing Daylight Podcast, our tenth episode. What a better way to toast this occasion than having one of the hottest Instagram Golf Accounts join us for an interview. Travis, the man behind the madness at @pgamemes, hopped on the phone and gave us a little insight into what started the wildly popular account and what’s it’s like running the page. PGA Memes is an account worth following If you’re not following PGA Memes, do yourself a favor and go follow. Ryan and I both agree the content is hilarious. Most of the time the jabs they put on the Tour guys are exactly what we all are thinking. Travis has a unique sense of humor. He has brilliantly been able to use it grow the account to almost 400,000 followers. That’s just insane to us. It has been incredible to watch the growth on the account and to see the interactions from his following. You want to talk about building a community. However, pgamemes isn’t the only account for Travis We’ve all seen the videos, and some of us, mainly Ryan, have been “pranked” by SirHissalot. The wildly entertaining account @hissalot is another brainchild of Travis. It started back in 2014 and has grown to be an account where he doesn’t even need to create content anymore. Fans of the page are consistently sending in videos. Travis let us know he’s planning a revamping of the account and has some plans for 2020 to make it even better than it is now. We can’t wait to see that.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by ♛ Sir Hissalot ♛ (@hissalot) on Aug 19, 2018 at 10:15am PDT Ryan’s Easter Eggs It just wouldn’t be an episode if Ryan didn’t have something to give away.  E11: The Open Winner, Listeners Phone Calls and More | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3701

No. 11: Season 1 Episode 11 We chat about The Open Championship and more. Congrats to you on The Open win Mr. Lowry The Irsish flags were waving, and so were the Sxrion ones! And oh what a Major it was. In arguably the best put on major overseas that we could remember Royal Portrush flourished on TV and in person from those who were lucky enough to be on the grounds. That means you Joel, you lucky SOB! The stunning landscape and what this tournament meant to the people of Northern Ireland made it an unforgettable experience. Matt and Ryan briefly cover their thoughts on what took place and how this was the conclusion of the Major season. No more Majors in 2019 With the conclusion of The Open, we’re now left to wait another 261 days before we see Augusta in early April. With the new season schedule, we have no more majors left on the calendar and only the Tour Championship to look forward to for a high profile event. We are curious how this new schedule will pan out only time will tell. Both Matt and Ryan offer their takes on the new schedule and what this means for the offseason. Listener Voice Mails YES, we finally got to these! Matt has been pushing the voice mails for a while now (702-518-1864), and Ryan figured out why in this episode! We took in some great calls, and it provided us with some excellent content for this episode. The voice mail calls was a great segment! We cannot wait to hear more from all of you. After you listen, you’ll understand why we’re expecting more calls after recording this episode. So get busy! Something BIG is coming It may happen in Tahoe, it may feature a fine co-sponsor, and it will be the first event in our new BREAKFAST BALL EVENT SERIES. Stay tuned for more info in this. We will be heavily promoting it on our social feeds. Ryan’s Easter Eggs For this episode, we’re giving away a Garsen QUAD Tour grip to one lucky listener.  E10: Logan Olson and Corey Paul | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3900

No. 10: Season 1 Episode 10 Episode 8 We are so excited to bring this interview to all of you. Both of us are fans of the work Corey Paul and Logan Olson have been doing. We’re not just fanboys though; we’re owners as well. Ryan has several pieces from Corey’s Wedge and Iron collections, and he also has an Olson Manufacturing putter. And, Matt has two putters from Olson Manufacturing, most notably the VEGAS58 Putter Logan crafted earlier this year. Getting to know these two incredible craftsmen We’re familiar with the backstory of how both brands came to be, but it was fun to listen to them talk about their passion. Corey and Logan have very different ways in how they came to be in this industry, and it was awesome to hear them tell their stories. Make sure you listen to what they are saying. They nailed so many analogies throughout the episode; it was hard to keep track! CPFA and Olson Manufacturing Collaborations Sunday, the dynamic duo, will release another collaboration on the Corey Paul Functional Art website. From the photos we’ve seen on their Instagram accounts, it looks like it’s going to be another fantastic release and we’re pumped to see it hit the site.  E9: Our talks continue in part 2; Club Champion and a MyGolfSpy Rant | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3191

No. 9: Season 1 Episode 9 The show goes on with some Club Champion talks and MyGolfSpy The second part to episode 7 opens up with our first Voice Mail message. It’s a creepy one. Then we dive back into the Stability Putter and the new flatstick from TRU2. Club Champion and getting fit correctly Both of us have spent a little time at the new Las Vegas Club Champion, and we are both fans of what they are doing there. The fitting process can be an uneasy experience if it’s not done correctly and we talk about why we like Club Champion. We also offer our insights on what to look for in a fitting. Getting fit is tops on our list of things you need to consider if you are looking to improve as a player. MyGolfSpy Rant However, what gets the boat rocking is Ryan’s take on MyGolfSpy. We cover our thoughts on what’s taking place with them, and that leads us to talk about golf balls. We cover MGS and their recent series about the findings in cut open golf balls and why we think what’s happing with this “tactic” may not be for all the right reasons. Please be reminded that this is our opinion and one of the reasons we wanted to start the podcast, to share our stories and opinions. The MGS topic led us into talking about our Golf Ball Sponsor over at The Breakfast Ball, Wilson Staff.  E8: The Open, Matthew Wolff and Stability Putter | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2386

No 8. Season 1 Episode 8  The Last Major It is almost here, the last Major of the season. With it, just around the corner we got in some first thoughts about the tournaments return to Ireland. Will Rory win a Major in Ireland? Will Koepka add another to his growing lists of Majors. Should you chastise anyone who calls it “The British Open” and what’s up with ESPN. Matthew Wolff is setting himself up to be a star We then got very long-winded on the new star on the PGA Tour, although he’s been making a name for himself for a few years now, Matthew Wolff. Last weeks winner has been a huge topic around the golfing world, and we chime in with our thoughts and question is the exemption to the “young guns” good for the sport. We interrupt this podcast Nothing can ruin the proper flow of a show like “technical difficulties.” We were getting to dive into the Stability Shaft when an unforeseen incident took place. After we “fixed” our issues we picked up the episode again and went on to talk for another 50 minutes. So instead of creating one, very long podcast, we have split this up into two parts. The Stability Shaft conversation picks up in part 2 along with some other topics you will not want to miss. Let’s say Ryan has a considerable soapbox and he’s not scared to get on top of it and voice his opinions. It’s excellent golf talk! No. 7: Season 1 Episode 7 Joel Leopard from Atomic Golf joins us for this episode. If you haven’t experienced any of the work Joel is producing at Atomic Golf, you are in for a treat! Joel took some time out from his busy schedule and chatted with Matt (and briefly Laura) about his company. He has an outstanding story about how Atomic Golf came to be, his career in the Nuclear Energy field, and of course, we talked about his Ball Markers. With an upcoming MAJOR #4 release a few weeks away Joel gives us a little insider info about what you can expect to see with the new marker. Hint, it’s going to be clover related. Then, Joel drops a bomb for us and let us know he’s working on a Putter Release for later this year! That’s right, a putter! It was an absolute pleasure having Joel on the show. He’s one of those guys who could talk golf for hours, and we LOVE that! He has some outstanding products in the works, and we cannot wait to see what he has in store for the MAJOR #4 release and his future endeavor with creating putters.
