 Don't Call It a Comeback | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 11:48

We're back and better than ever to talk about Dr. Fauci's testimony, the new coronavirus relief bill, Mitch McConnell, and the Supreme Court. Full Transcript (edited for clarity): Our first story of the day is Dr. Anthony Fauci’s testimony before Congress today to give an update on the coronavirus and how we’ve handled it. He warned against states and regions opening up too soon, and said that it could lead to an outbreak that would be uncontrollable, which would actually set us back because people would be even more scared and there would be more deaths. He also tried to lower expectations for the start of the school year in fall. Fauci said that it was obviously unlikely we’d have a vaccine, or enough of them I’m assuming, by that time, but that increased testing by that time could give people more peace of mind. Now, I’m glad that he’s still at least saying he’s optimistic about increased testing, but come on man, we’ve been promised more tests this entire time. Honestly, I don’t think anything he said should be a surprise or even newsworthy, but we still spend millions of dollars a year on ads telling morons not to drive drunk, so I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that we’re where we are.    In terms of what’s next for you and your family in terms of financial help from the government, the Democrats in the House of Representatives just debuted their next spending bill, and it says here that it’s 1800 PAGES long! You can tell this was written by the Democrats because it includes help for state and local governments, includes hazard pay for some workers, forgiveness of student debt, funding for Medicare and Medicaid, help for farmers, protecting renters from landlords, and extending family and medical leave, among even more things I didn’t mention. However, of course, Mitch McConnell has said that he thinks it's unnecessary to start working on another relief package. He said he’s worried because we now have a debt the size of our economy. Are you kidding me? That’s like someone saying there’s no immediate need for toilet paper after they just used everything except the last square. You don’t get to pass tax cuts that create a trillion dollar deficit, try to suppress information on the coronavirus because you think it’ll hurt the economy, which actually hurts the economy more than it would have, and now you’re telling us you’re worried? He has to be doing this on purpose, because there’s no way anyone has this little self-awareness.   Now, if you thought Mitch McConnell was done being a clown: no, no, no, no. Apparently, he was determined to become the world's biggest clown and out-moron Trump because today he said that Barack Obama was, and this is an actual quote, “classless” for criticizing Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Classless. Yes, classless and Trump were used in the same sentence. and it was not Trump who was being accused of being classless. I cannot even believe this. I mean there's a video put out by The Daily Show today of the entire right-wing beast (Fox News, etc.) criticizing Obama for using a selfie stick. It is absolutely amazing. I'm going to get the video for you because it is incredible what they said about Obama using a selfie stick. And now they're calling him classless because he told the truth; because he said that Trump is incompetent. Those aren’t his actual words, but he said something like Trump’s response made the outbreak much worse than it needed to be. It's times like these that I really, really wish Michelle Obama would be Joe Biden's vice president. Can you imagine that triple threat? Trump would not be able to contain himself. She is a woman, black, and her last name is Obama. Can you imagine? It would be the “Mexicans are rapists” plus making fun of the disabled reporter plus all the other racist stuff combined (it's weird that there's such a long list). I kind of hope for her sake though that she doesn’t take it. Why does she need to, first of all? Why d

 Trump's Super Genius | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 07:21

Summary: Today's latest news headlines: the coronavirus task task force is back on! Plus Trump doesn't know where he's going, but he's a super genius, and more! Full transcript (edited for clarity): Hello and welcome to this Wednesday edition of Quick News Daily, where we give you the news. no fluff, no filler, just news made for the 21st century. My name is Brett Spangler and thank you for joining me here today for a couple of quick-hitting news stories. We’ll just get right into it… I think the biggest news is that Donald Trump has changed course completely just a couple days after saying that the coronavirus White House task force will be winding down. He signaled that he heard all the backlash about the possibility of the shutdown of the team. In a direct quote he was even like “I didn't know how popular they were until I announced that they were going to be shutting down and then everyone started to get angry”. So obviously it's just proof that he just does whatever he thinks will play best in the media. His plan for the day are he just goes wherever the wind will take him I guess. Originally he has announce that they may be shutting down for some reason (probably because if there’s still a task force people would be questioning why all these businesses are opening back up), but now he says they're going to continue and probably meet less. They're not even meeting everyday anymore and the briefings have been getting shorter. So it’ll still be there functionally, but who knows how much work they’ll actually be doing or if they're just going to be focusing on the economic side of things and trying to get the economy back while also coming up with the loosest restrictions possible for social distancing. We’ll have wait and see on that one. He was also making friends once again in the briefing that he did have. He started calling out members of the press for questioning him too tough for when he thought was unfair (or at least what he says is unfair but know is actually just a real question and not a softball) and surprise surprise: two of the three reporters he named were women. Again, Paula Reid who you'll remember from the when she kept questioning why he didn't do anything in February, and it was that intense but great exchange that they had, she's from CBS. Also, Weija Jiang was the second female reporter he targeted, and I apologize to her if she's listening and I butchered her name. Anyway, Donald Trump said they were “no Donna Reed”, and first of all, have any of you even heard of Donna Reed? I certainly hadn't. One reason that that might be is that she died in 1986. Over 34 years ago. For context, she died before Chernobyl even happened, so what's up with that reference to someone who has been dead so long? He also used to call Jeff sessions. I can't remember the exact cartoon character, but it was from like 60s or something? Mr. Magoo maybe? Where is the guy's head at? I would wager that it's like sometimes in dementia, your long-term memory stays intact pretty well, but your short-term doesn't. Maybe it’s something like that and he’s just taking what he remembers, but who knows? Paula Reid quoted a tweet about it and said “Fact check: true” and then Weija Jiang had another great response as well, so I'll try to find those on Twitter and retweet those. Why this matters is that the big reason that the Democrats won so big and had the Blue Wave in 2018 was they took over the suburbs, and more specifically Suburban women. So when you know that's who you need to win, and just enough of that group voted for you in the 2016 election, kind of a strange strategy to keep bashing women relentlessly every chance you get. But hey, he’s a misogynist. They can't help themselves. Another thing here From The Washington Post that makes me question his mental state is he was talking about how when he visited a mask facility a couple of days ago, he said if it said that you need to wear masks, he said something like oh yea

 Trump/Putin Still Buddies | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 11:31

Summary: Today's latest news headlines are Trump, the United States, and Russia sit out the virtual coronavirus vaccine summit, a new whistleblower is out there, Barack Obama and Andrew Cuomo demonstrate leadership, and an interesting news headline.  Full transcript (edited for clarity):  Hello and welcome to this Tuesday, May 5th edition Cinco de Mayo/Taco Tuesday edition of Quick News Daily where we bring you the news, no fluff. no filler, just news made for the 21st century. My name is Brett Spangler, and today we have a full slate of news, so we have to get to that quickly but, first I just want to apologize for the late upload last night. I was running into some technical difficulties with my recording program (I think it's actually just my laptop in general), but I do apologize for that.  I also just want to give another quick shout-out to our executive producer Gwen! Hopefully this will get released earlier today so maybe more of you have a chance to listen, and I feel an obligation to give our patrons the shout-outs they deserve. Alright, let's get into today’s show. First up, we have a story about a virtual vaccine summit to raise money for a coronavirus vaccine. A lot of countries participated in this; it wasn't just the G7 (it actually wasn't even a G7, but we'll get to that in a second here). Notable headliners include: Japan, Italy, Spain, France, the UK, Canada, Jordan, South Africa, Germany, Turkey, China, and Bill and Melinda Gates. What are two notable names I didn't mention? The U.S. and Russia. Go figure; together again, long lost brothers: Putin and Trump. I hope I live to see the day where we find out what was actually going on between the two of them and people aren't scared to talk about all the bad stuff Trump did. I really want to hear. What does Putin have on him? It's got to be something good. It's got to be something crazy because they're always in lockstep. So yeah, something is up there. What impacts does it have for us since the U.S. isn't being represented there? We’re relying on countries with fewer financial resources and expecting them to be able to do enough with the money that they have. Even though the U.S. has just always been a leader since World War II (even since World War I even, but we can argue about if we led during the Great Depression), sometimes I wonder if it isn't better that other countries are getting together and leading since we're clearly just going to treat these issues as a joke. You have people who follow Fox News (who would have you believe that every person who's a little too tan is part of MS13) and live in fear that they’re going to “take our job” or something like that. Not everyone obviously, but Trump’s polling is so consistent that his floor is like 38 to 40%. So that many people out there just buy his stuff, and by he I mean Donald Trump, wholesale. They just listen to Fox News and that is all they believe. So when we need to solve these big issues like Coronavirus and climate change, we're obviously going to always treat these as a joke until...I mean that's why this election is so important: we can begin to go on the right track with Joe Biden. If we get four more years of Trump, I hope these guys (other countries) are ready to step up. And yeah, Bill Melinda Gates overall are pretty good representatives, kind of like a proxy a stand-in for the U.S. as a whole, but it's not going to be enough. But at least all these countries raised billions. Here's a quote from the article from CBS News about the summit, and let me just read it here: “President Trump has said the U.S. should have millions of doses of a vaccine available by the end of this year. He's made that the mission of a White House effort officially dubbed Operation Warp Speed.” I just want to let that sit for a moment. Can you just imagine if you read that sentence to someone from 2007? Imagine the look on their face and the sheer confusion. That is just a crazy headline. They’re getting
