~There is no 'secret sauce'; just tools. ~It's hard, yet you've got to stand up: be a good model & pay it forward. Spread understanding through action & example. ~What do YOU do in 'the moment' to reduce stress? and most importantly... ~How do you show Gratitude? (I am grateful for lending your time and an ear; thank you!)
~To move forward, our society might just need to get over ourselves. ~Don't compare this Christmas to every other; NOT healthy. ~Learning to savor humble pie. ~Why? What's the point? (aka- What's my purpose?)
~Unusual holiday, eh? ~Emotional & mental fallout. ~The need for connections / for purpose. ~What are your diversionary tactics? ~Move Forward / Reach Out.
-We can do more than we know, just gotta learn how. -Mind over matter is hard when your mind IS the matter. -Our epilepsy goes WAY beyond the science. -Helping each other is the best therapy.
-Life is likely much longer than the situation we're in. -Grasping for hope, for control; for anything. -Don't discount those who've been there for you.
-Building the support / building the tools -The Medication Honeymoon Syndrome -Fuel for the fire. -Regaining some sense of control.
-Losing predictability & stability. Stuff to think about. -Limitations of neurologists & scientists in general... -Ya really don't want everyone to know you have epilepsy (my naïve ass is learning the hard way) -Mental health hygiene & nourishment menu
-Mason & I continue to educate Mark on Colorado colloquialisms. -Mason's native american roots. -Adjusting might just be a lifelong thing. (Luckily I'm good at improv!)
-Fatherhood -Colorado connections -Benefits of having an older brother
-Mason & I talk about outdoor fun, and don't give Mark much room to talk at all. -Finally we let Mark in on the conversation, as it shifts toward parenthood; which is way outside of Mason's wheelhouse!
-They may not get it, yet they do want to help. -No control; how to get a taste of it back. (Fuel for the fire...) -Peer support really does help!
-Best case scenario moving forward? ....Damn good question!
