The Level of Tension in the Air is Affecting Everyone Across the Country – Assemblyman Marcos Crespo | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 42:55

"And it's not a healthy environment right now, but we need to find our way out of it.." Assemblyman Marcos Crespo from the Bronx, NY is back with Ruthie and RA for a live Cafecito Chat. A community is mourning.  Many people are feeling hopeless and enraged. The political environment is dramatic and extremism on both sides seem to be dominating the conversation.  People have lost faith in media and are losing faith in politics. We begin our conversation discussing the traumatic loss of Junior Lesandro Guzman-Feliz in the Bronx.  How do we move forward as a community to ensure that we are all actively being vigilant and using discernment so that we can prevent tragedies of this nature from ever occurring again? The tension is the air is so strong that some people, politicians, and certain media personalities are screaming and pointing fingers, instead of initiating a conversation. Marcos cautions us to be aware of what he calls, "misguided anger syndrome", where people tend to blame and react to the wrong sources. While there seems to be so much hopelessness in the air, Ruthie, RA and Assemblyman Marcos Crespo all agree that is it a time to come together.  It is time for a shared vision.  It is a time to focus on shared values and ideas. Conversations like these remind Ruthie and I that there are good authentic people working in government and that we can not lose faith in all politicians.  We invite you to listen to our interview below.
