It celebrated new growth Tuesday with the ribbon cutting for a major expansion of that space, taking it from about 6,100 square feet to about 14,200 square feet.The event drew a large amount of excitement from co-op officials about what they will be able to do with the additional space.“This expansion means we’re going to be able to meet more needs in the community, serve more people and be a better community partner in serving those in need,” North Gwinnett Co-Op Executive Director Kim Phillips said.The expansion was built on a spot that had previously been a grassy space next to the co-op’s existing space, which will continue to house its thrift store.SOURCE: www.GwinnettDailyPost.com#PodCast, #DailyHoroscope

Gandhi.Gwinnett’s Board of Commissioners accepted Tuesday the donation of 100 fruit trees from Indian Friends of Atlanta. The trees will be planted in Lilburn’s Bryson Park and, once they’re grown, will be available for picking by visitors.Food forests, seen as a way to help provide healthy produce in areas where more traditional offerings are lacking, are a growing national trend. A Georgia Gwinnett College professor has gone viral on Twitter after a photo surfaced of her carrying a student’s child on her back while teaching a class.On Sept. 19, a photo of Ramata Sissoko Cissé was posted on Twitter by the professor’s daughter, Anna. The new Grayson Tech suite will be utilized by Gwinnett Tech Veterinary Technology students on Wednesday when veterinarian Michelle Goodnight will lead surgeries as Gwinnett Tech students assist her.The surgeries are routine electives — a spay, neuter and mass removals — but open up Grayson Tech students to experience the day-to-day of a veterinarian and technician. www.GoodMorningGwinnett.com Mitsubishi Electric celebrated the groundbreaking of a new facility for special needs students in August as part of its partnership with Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett. The groundbreaking of the school's new campus on Aug. 27 was held at the site of the new campus at 660 Davis Road in Lawrenceville. In 2017, the board members of the Mitsubishi Electric Classic, a PGA Tour Champions event, voted unanimously to make the Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett the primary charity recipient of the funds raised through the annual event.
