What in Tar Nation Ep. 26: Recapping the Duke game, and previewing the ACC Tournament | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3686

Welcome back for another episode of What !n Tar Nation! Tanya Anderson (@tanya__anderson), Brandon Anderson (@THBBrandon), and Julius Emanuel (@UNC_TarHeelFan) are back this week to discuss a big game that apparently took place this past weekend. I don’t know, it was against a team in Durham I think? In this episode we will be discussing: Recap the big win against Duke, which effectively ruined Coach K’s big night. Discussed all of the extracurricular activity following the game, including Duke fans crying, Handshakegate, and the delusion that UNC has become the Blue Devils’ “little brother.” We discuss the ACC Tournament, and whether or not UNC has enough left in the tank to make a run. We pick teams that aren’t in Carolina blue that we think could spoil the party in Brooklyn for the tournament favorite Blue Devils. Be sure to subscribe to our channel if you haven’t already, and please leave us a five-star review if you feel inclined to do so. Also, while you’re here, be sure to check out http://breakingt.com/TarHeelBlog and pick up new t-shirt designs from our good friends at BreakingT. They have been on fire as of late, releasing a lot of cool new UNC t-shirt designs so you can look great while enjoying March Madness. There’s even some shirts to commemorate UNC spoiling Duke’s party, if that level of petty is your thing. We’ll be back next week to discuss Selection Sunday, and the results of the ACC Tournament.  DPTG 34: Mack Brown Remains on a Mission | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1446

On a quiet, COVID-19 locked-down Friday afternoon, Mack Brown and the North Carolina coaching staff secured two more commitments for the 2021 class. Host Chad Floyd and esteemed guest Jake Lawrence (@Chad_Floyd and @therealestrjl on Twitter, btw) had a brief conversation about it. There was a back-and-forth between marveling at Brown’s efforts, and talking about the merits of the newest commitments, Raneiria Dillworth (who chose the Tar Heels over Alabama) and Jared Wilson (a former Georgia commitment.) Two more scores in-state for the Tar Heels. While the state is on lockdown, is Mack Brown the new Governor? Wilson: a hyper-athletic man for 325 pounds, and how he defies the often difficult high school offensive lineman evaluation process. Dillworth: safety? Linebacker? Swiss Army Knife? How does Jay Bateman plan on deploying guys like him, Gabe Stephens, Ja’Quirious Conley, and Dontavious Nash? (Hint, its gonna be fun.) Do we play two 2021 seasons at this point? We were brief today, but we needed to laud the fact that Carolina is #2 in the country in football recruiting. If you like us, subscribe. Go Heels. Learn more about your ad choices.  Four Corners, Ep. 1: Social Distancing | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2164

Welcome to Four Corners! This podcast doesn’t really fit a specific genre, so we created a new one. Host Chad Floyd (@Chad_Floyd) and esteemed guest Brandon Anderson (@THBBrandon) sort through the complete, silent, confusing chaos and talk about some random life adaptations before rounding into sports: Coffee and alcohol consumption; New hobbies, things that are missed, were taken for granted, etc.; The cruelty of an airborne virus hitting during pollen season in the South; The weirdness of covering the ACC Tournament as the world came to a stop on March 11th; A fact not previously discussed: what Carolina basketball did that Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, Virginia, and most every other national contender didn’t do in 2020; How are we going to get football started on time? CAN we get football started on time? SHOULD we get football started on time? Best memes to come out of the COVID era. These are weird times, and with no actual sports to really talk about, we’re open to suggestions! Here’s hoping y’all enjoy some rambling and are staying indoors and healthy. Til next time, Go Heels!  Between the Banners Ep. 32: Can the Heels Make a Run in the ACCT? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2105

Between the Banners is back to preview the ACC Tournament! Host Chad Floyd (@Chad_Floyd) is joined by Al Hood (@albhood) to break down this week’s ACC Tournament in Greensboro, to which Tar Heels fans have to pay attention as early as today! Discussed: The tournament, by quadrants, starting with Carolina’s: Al and Chad agree that the Heels should cruise by Virginia Tech, can they beat Syracuse again? Big, bad Louisville looms on Thursday. Virginia has to make it out of the Catholic region (yes, I realize Boston College is Jesuit). Notre Dame still intrigues Chad, as it has for the whole season. Duke should cruise through to Friday, as Wake, Pitt, and State stand in their way. Can Florida State actually pull the clean sweep on the regular season and tournament? The three “football schools” in the conference occupy the early slot on Wednesday and Thursday, and there’s probably some chaos potential. You found us, don’t lose us. Subscribe on your podcast purveyor of choice, leave us a 5-star review (speaking of 5-stars, look at Mack Brown’s recruiting) on Apple Podcasts and I’ll read it on the air!  Between the Banners Ep. 31: Ugh | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2435

In the first three minutes of the pilot episode of the classic Netflix cartoon BoJack Horseman, the main character compares life to a good, long kick in the urethra. That...is a very apt metaphor for the North Carolina Tar Heels 2019-2020 basketball season. Jake Lawrence (@therealestRJL) and Al Hood (@albhood) and host Chad Floyd (@Chad_Floyd) try to talk through it. Discussed: The collapse down the stretch. What went wrong? Fatigue? Confidence? Coaching? We get a little deeper into coaching. At some point, what does Roy Williams do with a roster that has been so decimated by injury? How do the Heels muster up the energy to not fold in the last five minutes of a game going forward? And yes, by popular demand, we put on our #NCStateFan tinfoil hats and talk about the refs. You found us, don’t lose us. Subscribe on your podcast app of choice, leave us a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts and we will read it on the air. Even if its sad. Like this episode, no doubt, is.  Between the Banners Ep. 30: Two Wins and a Significant Loss | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2870

Is Carolina basketball back? Well, possibly, as the Heels posted two double-digit conference wins with a depleted roster. Is the Tar Heel Blog Podcast back? Yessir. Host Chad Floyd (@Chad_Floyd) is joined by Akil Gurupuran (@akillesheel17) and Al Hood (@albhood) to talk about a litany of happenings in Carolina basketball, and beyond. We start on a somber note, talking about memories of the late Kobe Bryant. The obvious Michael Jordan juxtapositions hit close to home as Carolina fans, but we tried to eulogize him and put into context his passing as best we could. The win against Miami: the Brandon Robinson show takes a backseat (in our discussion, at least) to some nice things we saw from Armando Bacot and grad transfers Christian Keeling and Justin Pierce. Also, the catharsis of building a lead, maintaining a lead, and ending a long losing streak. We danced on State’s grave, through the lens of Robinson the absolute warrior, and Garrison Brooks, emerging superstar. And yes, we trashed State as a program and fanbase a little bit. Finally, we wrap by quickly discussing whether the Heels can navigate the tough back end of the schedule and get back in the NCAA Tournament discussion. Learn more about your ad choices.
