Brian Borkowski with Asymmetric Technologies joins Lefty. Next Brain and Lefty talk about the latest projects Asymmetrics has been working on.  Drones are always a fun topic to discuss which AT just so happens to be involved in some interesting drone research.  Another project in the works is a high-grade DOPPLER LIDAR system (Light {laser} Detection and Ranging) that builds 3d models which is used for base defense applications. The main project we were there to see was the Fiber Optic Detection System or FODS.  A commercially available version using a fiber optic cable with a range of 100 kilometers allows you to have up to 5000 channels which allows detection of different energy signatures (patterns of life) put into the ground. Ideally used for threat detection around a perimeter this systems can differentiate between a person walking their dog vs a person cutting your fence.  A car passing by vs  a car that stops, gets out and interacts with your fence.  The FODS system is so diverse it can be used for geological, military, gas & oil industry, nuclear facilities, and even border security aspects. After business we have a ton of fun with the 2nd Annual Asymmetric Technologies Machine Gun Shoot. Tusker Arms provided an awesome array of unique fully automatic guns with included: Micro & Mini Uzis; M16 Armalite AR-15; AK47 Kalashnikov Automatic Rifle; Thompson SubMachine Gun; MAC-10  Military Armament Corporation Model 10;  FN Herstal  FN P90; M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR), M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW); M107 Barrett Semi-Auto 50 cal; MG 42 Maschinengewehr 42; M1919 Browning 1919; Czeck UK vz. 59 Universal Machine Gun Model 1959; Heckler & Koch HK23e; and many more.  Some of these were a once in a lifetime opportunity to shoot and shoot we did!
