The Assembly Call IU Basketball Podcast

Summary: The Assembly Call, founded in 2011, is the original Indiana basketball postgame show and one of the longest-running IU basketball podcasts. Hosted by IU alums Jerod Morris (who is also the host of Inside the Hall's Podcast on the Brink), Andy Bottoms, and Ryan Phillips, this feed includes replays of our postgame show, which goes live on our website immediately after every IU game, as well as replays of our weekly radio show, which is broadcast in several markets throughout Indiana. We also do a simulcast of our radio show recording every Thursday night at our website.

 [345] Headlines and Secret Overreactions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3226

On this week's edition of Assembly Call Radio, we linger a bit on the first exhibition game, react to a few comments from Archie Miller's first weekly coach's show, and discuss the latest IU basketball headlines. Then we debut a new segment called "Secret Overreactions" in which we deliver some gut-level feelings we're having that we'd prefer to keep to ourselves ... but since, you know, we host a show, we don't have that luxury. After we reveal our deep, dark overreactions, we call each other out for being crazy ... or maybe onto something. And finally, we answer your questions.

[344] IU-Marian Postgame Show: A Solid Beginning to the Archie Miller Era | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3769

The Hoosiers finally hit the hardwood against an opponent other than themselves on Saturday night. Among the biggest takeaways from Archie Miller's first game as the head coach of Indiana were fewer turnovers and better team defense -- along with the stellar play of Devonte Green, and an up-and-down night for Robert Johnson. Oh, and did a player actually get held accountable for an egregious turnover? Why yes, yes he did. We give this important moment the celebration it deserves. All of this, and more, on the latest edition of The Assembly Call IU Postgame Show.

[343] Romeo, Darius, and What KenPom Projections Mean for IU | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3286

On this week's edition of Assembly Call Radio, we discuss a number of topics. We begin by hitting on recruiting, of course, because it's been the hottest topic of the week. We discuss what we’re hearing about Romeo Langford and Darius Garland, and what it could all mean. Then we discuss the preseason KenPom rankings, which are now out. I crunched the numbers on how Indiana has fared recently against its preseason projections, and how Archie Miller’s Dayton teams fared. You won’t want to miss these results. Plus, we dissect what the projections suggest about Indiana’s non-conference schedule. (Note: Andy's a more little concerned than he anticipated being.)Next, we provide a few additional reflections on the Hoosier Hysteria scrimmage. Andy and I obviously dove deep on this in the post-scrimmage show (which, if you missed, was episode 342 of The Assembly Call). But we’ll now get to add Ryan’s thoughts to the mixAnd then we answer your questions -- and there were lots of good ones submitted this week. Also, I mention in this episode that our preseason donation drive is currently underway. You can learn more here (https://assemblycall.com/preseason-donation-drive-2017/) and see the secure donation options here (https://assemblycall.com/preseason-donation-drive-2017/).
