This episode talks about how you can get out of a creative block. We’ll discuss blocks that come from not being able to start a project, the block that comes from having too many choices, and the block that comes from fear. For all of these, you can fall into a trap of overthinking, which can lead to an inability to do anything creative. I’ll give you methods of how you can get past these creative blocks. Co-op galleries can be a great option for artists who want to get their art seen and sold. The artist displays their artwork at the gallery for a couple months, they work a few hours at the gallery, and they split the sales with the owner of the gallery. In Episode #71, I spoke with artist AJ Brockman who created a new type of gallery, called The Brewhouse Gallery. In this episode I talk about his gallery and traditional co-op galleries so that you can decide if those galleries are right for you.

AJ Brockman is a talented artist living with a progressive disease, but it has never held him back from his art goals. After working the art show circuit in Florida, he searched for a better way to sell his art. He created The Brewhouse Gallery, a place where people can enjoy a craft beer in a unique gallery setting. While artist Katiana Jarbath Smith was born and raised in South Florida, her parents emigrated here from Haiti. Art journaling is a popular way for artists to work out their thoughts, try new art techniques, or record their life milestones. Artist Edrian Thomidis has only been making sculptures for about five years. Her ceramic sculptures are whimsical with a sense of spirit and deep emotion and show a connection to the world. Her ancestry, family history and life experiences motivate many of her pieces. Online art sales can be quite lucrative for artists and are easy to do using Facebook. In this episode I go over step by step how you can plan an art sale on Facebook in the coming year. It’s a great way to sell a couple dozen items in a short period of time. The key is to establish a good following on Facebook and develop your inventory of artwork.

Artist Kecia Deveney, has a style that is clearly her own. She paints, she sews, she creates 3D art pieces using vintage objects. She worked hard to develop her artistic style and now teaches art in many disciplines, from her home in New Jersey, to as far away as Australia. She tells great stories about her Australia trips, and how she’s has successfully sold her artwork through a Facebook pop-up shop. Many people want to make art, but they don’t give themselves permission to do it. They think they are too busy, or it’s too frivolous, or too expensive. In this episode, I help you to make more art by telling you how you can give yourself permission, how you can take an art class and have the instructor give you permission, or how you can create a deadline to make you accountable.
