Can U Dig It? Lakers basketball is back! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2002

The Lakers finally made their long-awaited return to the basketball court on Sunday afternoon in their preseason opener against the Brooklyn Nets. While the players who did not play -- LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Kevin Durant -- were far more notable than the ones that did, the excitement was still all the same in the purple and gold's return to action after exactly four months off over the summer. Today's edition of "Can U Dig It?" features Jacob and Christian sharing their thoughts on what was ultimately a blowout win for the Nets, 123-97. They discuss the big performance from Malik Monk, the host of young backcourt players the Lakers have including Kendrick Nunn and Talen Horton-Tucker and whether Sunday's performance could factor into the Lakers starting Anthony Davis at center. With so much talent in the backcourt, does it make more sense for the Lakers to play small more this season? They also discuss the frontcourt, including Davis' one quarter of action on the night. After a frustrating 2020-21 season, Davis looks refocused and re-energized, albeit through just one quarter of one game. The two also give their first impressions of the two centers on the Lakers roster and how they fared in their first performances of the season. The pair also touch on the likes of Wayne Ellington, Kent Bazemore and Rajon Rondo, all who made returns to the Lakers this summer. Learn more about your ad choices.
