Keeping It 300: A Raiders Podcast

This week we’re Keeping it 300 with former Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio.  We discuss everything, from what the last 18 months has been like for him, how tough it was to get let go from his dream job, why he decided to do the final post game press conference after getting fired, what he would have done differently during his tenure with the Raiders, what he thinks about the job Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden have done so far, why he believes this is a make or break year for Derek Carr, why he believes the Raiders can win the AFC west, what’s next for him, why he cut James Jones back in 2015 ….. that and much more.

This week Fallon and James Keep it 300 with Bay Area native, Fresno State legend, 2x Pro Bowler, Packers wide receiver Davante Adams. Davante discusses what it was like growing up in East Palo Alto. He remembers the exact moment he realized he needed to get his family out of there. Tae played at Fresno State with Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and explains what makes him special, but does he think he’s “baby ARod like James does?”. Speaking of Aaron Rodgers find out what NBA player Tae compares ARod to. The QB GOAT debate. Rodgers or Brady? Tae weighs in. Who does Tae believe are the top 5 wide receivers in the NFL right now? On this week’s episode of Keeping it 300 Fallon and James welcome the newest member of the Blue Wire family, Raider Cody. He discusses what listeners should expect from the Raider Cody Podcast and why he started the podcast in the first place. We play “over or under” with Cody regarding Derek Carr’s predicted stats for 2019. Cody asks James to take him back to 2014 and describe his game winning touchdown against the Chiefs which give the Raiders their first win of the season after starting 0-10, why is Mickey Mouse involved?  James is really good friends with Raiders OC Greg Olson, but in their “story time” segment, James recalls the time he got into it with Olson on the sideline during a game and it almost turned ugly. In their Packers portion of the show, Fallon and James discuss Randall Cobb’s comments regarding his former team. Why not receiving an offer from the Packers this offseason has fueled him, comparing the Pack to an ex-girlfriend. We go inside Green Bay’s roster strategy and how not signing Cobb signifies the confidence the front office and coaches have in their young receivers. Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre team up to play in a golf tournament. The two are now great friends, but it wasn’t always this way. James had a front row seat to the pair’s awkward and hostile relationship in Green Bay, and describes how their relationship has evolved over time.

It’s a slow time in the NFL as teams are off until late July when training camp begins, so Fallon and James thought it was a perfect time for “story time’. James shares a few untold stories from his time with the Raiders and Packers. One of the stories features a hall of fame quarterback passing gas in the huddle with the game on the line. Seriously.  Fallon recalls the time she met Mark Davis’ hairdresser. Who’s to blame for the bowl cut? Details on Davis’ infamous hairdo. Plus, David Carr believes the Raiders will make the playoffs this season and his baby brother Derek will be the NFL’s MVP, do Fallon and James agree? They also give their sleeper picks on who they believe will be a rising star on the show. Plus, find out what Reggie thinks about Antonio Brown joining the Raiders and where he believes Oakland’s offense can rank with the addition of AB. He also wants Raider Nation to know they shouldn’t sleep on Ryan Grant, why? Odell Beckham Jr. is with a new team and wants the media to stop bringing up his past, Reggie offers OBJ some advice. Who does Reggie believe is the best receiver in the NFL today? Will you be surprised if it’s not one of the two guys above? The NFL announced the Raiders and Packers will play their preseason game in Canada, James and Fallon react to the news. They also discuss what Antonio Brown has brought to OTAs so far and his relationship with Head Coach Jon Gruden. Plus, with Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur tearing his Achilles, find out why James isn’t really surprised.  And while Aaron Rodgers pokes fun at his head coach, others are trolling his beer chugging skills, which isn’t a good idea, because we found out he’s the clap back king.
