Sin City lived up to its name on Wednesday, Feb. 19 as the Democratic candidates for the 2020 presidential election took the stage at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. For the first time in nine debates, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg set foot on the debate stage with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), former Vice President Joe Biden, former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN). Of all the debates to date, this was the bloodiest, richest, and most sinful. But after all, it was in Las Vegas and with the Democrats, so it was to be expected. #KatiePetrick
As it is another day that ends in “y,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has found the spotlight. There were so many stories involving AOC last week, that an encore performance was needed. This one involves her favorite past times of being celebrity and bartending. Showtime released the seven-minute mini documentary of AOC in her home district of the Bronx and Queens, where she loves the bodega life and being a bartender. But it was her excitement of a dream come true over being involved as a guest judge on the upcoming season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” that clearly demonstrated how much of a celebrity she desires.
Last week was a doozy. All of the attention was paid to President Donald Trump and then to the grand implosion of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). And that must have peeved some of those young ‘ens from the selfie generation because they weren’t in the spotlight. Insert Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who did not have all of the attention on her, so she tried her weakest to make it all about her needs. From skipping the State of the Union to hang with her dog to mocking a man with lung cancer, and from shaming her Caucasian boyfriend for his whiteness to calling for the abolition of ICE, Ocasio-Cortez is crying for attention this week. Is it anything out of the ordinary? Of course it is not, but the narcissism must be exposed in order for truth to be revealed. #KatiePetrick
The week could not have possibly been any more cringey, although most everyone knows this will be the same sentiment in the weeks to come. Between the Academy Awards and the 2020 Democratic nomination process this week, everyday Americans were filled to the brim with hypocrisy, pandering, and cows’ milk, but more on that later. #KatiePetrick
The State of the Union 2020 was not what anyone expected. It may have been was hoped for, but surely no one had placed bets in Las Vegas that the speaker of the House of Representatives was going to physically rip up the speech while in the chambers and on national television. #KatiePetrick
