On June 6, 1944, an estimated 160,000 Allied troops landed by sea and air on the Normandy coast in France, launching one of the largest and most critical military campaigns in history. Gordon H. Mueller, PhD, former historian and Vice Chancellor at the University of New Orleans, served as Founding President and CEO of The National WWII Museum. During a distinguished career at the university, Mueller made his mark as a popular teacher, dean, and vice chancellor. He continues to lead overseas WWII tours and speaks widely on the war experience, the nature of the American Spirit, and nonprofit leadership. Dr. Mueller will sit on stage in conversation with Turner Classic Movies host and film commentator Ben Mankiewicz

Gary has over 23 years of military service, including serving as a member of the Army's elite 160ᵗʰ Special Operations Aviation Regiment. In 2008, Gary was paralyzed in a catastrophic helicopter crash. Flash forward to 2013 when Gary became the first military recipient of an EKSO exoskeleton for home use through a grant from the Infinite Hero Foundation, allowing Gary to walk again.
