Trouble followed him everywhere before and after fifth grade when he was arrested for breaking into the state fairgrounds. After that arrest, he was suspended or expelled from several schools due to his behavior. In sixth grade, a bullet grazed his side while burglarizing a home not knowing that the owner was there – armed. His role models were local drug dealers that he idolized and sought to emulate. He was in and out of juvenile detention centers, for crimes such as home invasion, auto theft, drug, and other crimes. A judge once prophesized that in five years his attitude would either get him killed or incarcerated. Tommie grinned at the judge who did not know that the “monster” lurking within Tommie was fueled by the prophecy.?He sported permanent gold teeth and tattoos covered his body from the neck down, ( a total of 60 Tattoos) since the age of 12. But now after finishing high school which no one in his family every did ( AAU basketball), ?Tommie received a BA cum laude in education from Tougaloo in 2011 were he was elected Mister Tougaloo College.He also became an author writing his first book, “A Dark Journey to a Light Future,” that chronicles his story for persons of all ages. He shares how he came from behind to where he is today because of a second chance. Mr. White spent 12 years on active duty with the U.S. Navy receiving numerous Navy Achievement Medals and Good Conduct awards. In the Navy is where Mr. White learned how to become a Team Player, Mentor, and Entrepreneur. Larry was a very intricate volunteer while on active duty earning Volunteer of Year at Sherwood Forest Elementary School in the city of Norfolk. Mr. White has appeared on various local television programs, and radio stations speaking on Leadership, Mentoring and Entrepreneurship. Mr. White has the opportunity of working with Ambassador Shabazz, Dr. Ben Carson, A’Ngela Winbush, Charlie Wilson, Marla Gibbs, and Jennifer Holliday. As CEO of VIPeVENTS Concierge, he recently spearheaded an event to provide toy’s for disadvantaged youth in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Melissa Holmes is a two domestic violence survivor turned advocate 6 years ago, after surviving her last relationship that almost claimed her life. She decided that after being choked within seconds of dying, she would start a non profit organization called Love Shouldn't Hurt NY Inc., which originally started as a Facebook group in 2010, for domestic violence survivor and victims. She wanted to create a safe forum for others that needed help in leaving abusive situation, or just needed comfort in knowing that they were not alone. Since 2010 she has been strongly campaigning against domestic violence by paying forward in the community to try to assist with building healthy relationships. She has and continues to reach out to resources to continue to share whether it's tv interviews, news interviews, magazines, radio interview and being a motivational speaker, encouraging and inspiring others who are misunderstood or afraid to speak out. She guides them in a way that makes them understand it's nothing to be embarrassed about, it's not there fault or anything they did to cause someone to abuse them. Melissa has just launch a domestic violence seminar/workshop Oct 24th 2015 called "From Pain To Purpose, My New Chapter that has taking off into other city like New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, and Maryland to name a few. In the early 80's a young girl was born into a family that left her heartless, helpless and emotionless allowing her to always fin for herself; alone and barely loved. She grew up and experienced so many things that eventually allowed her to learn, forgive, forget and grow. Sharing my story to touch hearts of others that can relate to struggle, life's disappointments, abuse, deaths, and or betrayal; and come out with a positive attitude. Using the words I recorded in journals and notebooks I kept as a young girl, I now bare my soul within these pages by sharing my truth. I share my personal struggles with the world to help others and give them the support and love I never felt as a young girl. I don’t want anyone to ever feel, what I felt growing up, but in my years of healing I realize that I am certainly not the only one. It was a lot of hurt and pain but there are ways to get through it, to do more than just survive. Reclaim your worth, your dignity, your SELF.  He will see you through it, and He will put people in your path that will help along the way. I am sharing my story with you, so others, who have judged me without knowing the silent pain that I carried, will finally understand. “Never judge a book by its cover, first open it and read it.” So as the Bible says, I am making it plain, and writing it on tablets--making my life that open book; a book that includes a vision of hope, faith and victory that many desire, but few have claimed.  At the end of my story, you will have cried, laughed, had chills or even gotten upset, feel hurt or feel loved. But at the very end of it all I want you to take my words, then write your own story, or rewrite your story with a new path of healing, love, and faith.

Studies suggest that up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually.Nearly 1 in 5 teenage girls who have been in a relationship said a boyfriend threatened violence or self-harm if presented with a breakup.? Everyday in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends.Ninety-two percent of women surveyed listed reducing domestic violence and sexual assault as their top concern.Domestic violence victims lose nearly 8 million days of paid work per year in the US alone—the equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs.Based on reports from 10 countries, between 55 percent and 95 percent of women who had been physically abused by their partners had never contacted non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help.The costs of intimate partner violence in the US alone exceed $5.8 billion per year: $4.1 billion are for direct medical and health care services, while productivity losses account for nearly $1.8 billion.Men who as children witnessed their parents’ domestic violence were twice as likely to abuse their own wives than sons of nonviolent parents.

Since then and after 13 or so medications (she says she lost count), 10 different specialists (she says she wishes she could lose count), and 5 diagnoses (the docs cheated at Rock, Paper, Scissors); AJ bet herself good money that she could break the silence of African Americans hiding with mental illness and crusade for more effective legislation.
