Problematic Women: Why Trump’s Huge Compliments of Kim? | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 00:29:35

Could flattery be the only way to Kim Jong Un’s heart and the future denuclearization of North Korea? After what President Donald Trump said was a successful summit, derided by many critics for producing what they say is a flimsy agreement, the president took to the media to compliment the North Korean dictator.   “Really, he’s got a great personality. He’s a funny guy, he’s very smart, he’s a great negotiator,” Trump told Voice of America after the historic summit in Singapore on Tuesday. “He loves his people, not that I’m surprised by that, but he loves his people. And I think that we have the start of an amazing deal.” Is this the one negotiation strategy that will work on Kim? That’s what we try to figure out in this week’s edition of “Problematic Women.” We also dive into the LGBT backlash against Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for tweeting about his love for Chick-fil-A, Ireland’s move to force abortions on Catholic hospitals, Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ longevity as White House press secretary, and 20 years of “Sex and the City.” Finally, suicide rates are up for American women, but we have a book for all of us who want to learn to accept and love who we are every day.

 Problematic Women: Melania's Media Madness | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 00:20:37

After undergoing kidney surgery on May 14, Melania Trump made her first public appearance at a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) briefing with President Donald Trump, Vice President Pence and other members of the Cabinet. The appearance ended a period of media frenzy and conspiracy theories regarding her whereabouts, and came hours after the president took to Twitter to defend Melania. He wrote, "The Fake News Media has been so unfair, and vicious, to my wife and our great First Lady, Melania. During her recovery from surgery they reported everything from near death, to facelift, to left the W.H. (and me) for N.Y. or Virginia, to abuse. All Fake, she is doing really well!" Trump added, "...Four reporters spotted Melania in the White House last week walking merrily along to a meeting. They never reported the sighting because it would hurt the sick narrative that she was living in a different part of the world, was really ill, or whatever. Fake News is really bad!" The first lady addressed the speculation herself on May 30 when she tweeted: "I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing. Rest assured, I'm here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!" We also take on Miss America's doing away with the bikini contest and evening gown portions of the famed show. Chairwoman of the Miss America board of directors (and former Fox News host) Gretchen Carlson announced these changes recently on Good Morning America. And finally, we address the tragic suicide of iconic fashion designer Kate Spade. Watch in the video above, or listen in the podcast below.

Two days after “Roseanne” star Roseanne Barr went on a Twitter tirade that led to ABC pulling the plug on the hugely successful reboot of her show, TBS "Full Frontal" host Samantha Bee went after White House senior adviser and first daughter Ivanka Trump in a nasty attack. “You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, ” Bee said, “but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices you feckless c---!” “He listens to you,” Bee continued, discussing the administration's immigration policy at the border. “Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to f---ing stop it.” Bee later apologized "for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night," saying it was "inappropriate and inexcusable." (The apology came after the recording of "Problematic Women.) But unlike Roseanne, Bee still has her show. Is there a double standard? That's what we discuss in week's edition of "Problematic Women." We also take on J.Crew's new "feminist" t-shirt for young boys, where the clothing label teamed up with a text-based graphic designer who makes clothing featuring issues “ranging from women’s reproductive rights and push for equality to education and gun control.” And finally, we address the "Bachelorette" first impression rose going to a man who liked problematic posts on Instagram.
