All murders are heinous. They are painful and confusing and terrifying. But there is nothing more painful than losing a child. There is nothing more confusing than when someone takes a child’s life away. And there is nothing more terrifying than when it’s their parent that does it. Domestic violence remains the leading type of violence in Australia. At least 41 per cent of murders are a result of domestic violence. Most of those involve people killing their intimate partners, with 79 per cent of those victim’s women, and 21 per cent of them, men.
