Your Utah Hosts Taylor Powers and Ethan Millard break down the major Veterans Day events in Utah as provided by the Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs They also deliver a little historical trivia.  For example, Veterans Day was originally Armistice Day.  It commemorated the signing of the armistice ending World War I on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.

Illuminate Salt Lake is an exciting light festival taking place November 10-11 2017 in Downtown Salt Lake. Go to Illuminatesaltlake.org Your Utah hosts Taylor Powers and Ethan Millard cover the basics of what to expect.  They'll be projecting light art displays onto buidings, among other things. There will also be lots for kids to do.  The event takes place at Gateway, UMOCA (Utah Museum of Contemporary Art), and Eccles Theater.  It's free (with some paid receptions & events) 

The American Heroes Foundation is dedicated to helping all first responders, active duty military, and veterans. Your Utah hosts Taylor Powers and Ethan Millard talk to Garrett Goodwin and Kim Christopherson about this great organization and a cool event they're hosting in Utah. It's called "Red, White, and Pew".  It's a time to hit the range and shoot a bunch of guns you normally wouldn't be allowed to touch at all. Proceeds to got The American Heroes Foundation.   

Hogle Zoo has a great Family Nature Club.  It's a really cool program that gets families out of the house and involved in some really cool outdoor activities.  Go to hoglezoo.org to find out more. The Utah Museum of Natural History also has a cool event this weekend.  They're opening up the back rooms for tours.   The UMNH has a lot stored away out of sight and this is your yearly chance to check out what goes on behind the scenes.

Your Utah hosts Taylor Powers and Ethan Millard cover Shredfest, a pre- winter festival in Salt Lake that features a mountain of snow trucked in for the event.  This year it will also feature the Montana State Timbersports Team. They also talk about the Joshua Tree National Natural Landmark in Southern Utah. Joshua Trees were once distributed by a now extinct. giant sloth and they were named by Mormon pioneers.  All of this is true.

Happy Halloween! Utah's Spooky (Family friendly) Events

Taylor Powers' pick for Halloween is the Haunted Forest & Haunted Hollow in American Fork.  It's billed as the scariest Halloween attraction around and looks awesome.  It takes place outdoors in a forest, so it's extra spooky. Ethan Millard's pick for this Halloween is Zombie Paintball Patrol at McCoard's Garden Center.  It's in Provo, and you get to hunt zombies for Halloween.  Awesome.

Your Utah hosts Taylor Powers and Ethan Millard talk about two Halloween events going on this month. Pumpkin Days is at Wheeler Historic Farm, and Pumpkin Nights is at Utah State Fairpark. Both feature lots of great Halloween fun.  Pumpkin Days also features Dog Dayz in the Maze, which is a Halloween event for dogs.

Clark Historic Farm in Grantsville, Utah, is hosting the Honey Harvest Festival Oct 13th & 14th. The farm hosts the Sweet Fiddlin Festival.  Admission is free to both events. Your Utah hosts Taylor Powers and Ethan Millard highlight fall drives to get you up into the leaves.  Try Trappers Loop, Mirror Lake Highway, and Alpine Loop.  Pay close attention to conditions.  Things can change quickly at such a high elevation. Taylor also reviews some hot springs near Meadow, Utah.  They are open to the public, but are on private land. So be kind.

Your Utah hosts Taylor Powers and Ethan Millard noticed the South Town Expo Center was hosting two very different events on the same weekend. The first is Utah Paranormal Expo.  It's this weekend, October 7th.  It features all kind of paranormal issues including ufos, ghosts, psychics, bigfoot, aliens, zombies, and witches. Also this weekend is Mountain Gravity Expo. This is dedicated to extreme sports.  Specifically, they try to teach people how to enjoy outdoor sports in a safe way.
