Introducing kids to health careers in middle school and high school significantly improves their chances of continuing their education in a health science field. Employees are entitled to a reasonable break time to express breast milk for their nursing child. OHSU’s Workplace Expression of Breast Milk Advisory Committee or WEBMAC has worked with OHSU to designate several locations to give mothers a private place to breastfeed or pump breast milk. A new book written by Dr. Alisha Moreland-Capuia, takes her work and research with young people in the Multnomah County Juvenile Justice system and as a practicing psychiatrist to focus on trauma-informed practices and the role in improving the health of individuals while creating positive system change.
