Our City Podcast

This episode is created and produced by the Electronic Communications class at Maddock Public High School in Maddock, North Dakota. The seven seniors are students of Mrs. Flo Kallenbach. They are anxious for graduation, but wanted to share tidbits about Maddock before they go out into the real world.

The kids of the Chapman Elementary School morning and after-school book clubs have created a podcast about Spartanburg, South Carolina with the help of Mrs. Buice, the 5th grade teacher, and Mrs. Bruce, the media specialist. They are going to tell you all why Spartanburg is so sweet! They worked on this a lot, and they hope you enjoy it!

This episode is called "Butte-Full Bend" and was created by fourth and fifth grade students in Miss Lundstrom's class at Buckingham Elementary School. Listen and you will learn many wonderful things about Bend, including opportunities to snowboard at Mt. Bachelor, fish or float on the Deschutes River, and listen to music in parks. Enjoy the show!

The sixth grade students at St. Edward Catholic School and Preschool are excited to introduce their charming town of Chillicothe, which is located in Central Illinois along the banks of the Illinois River. Eighth grade students in Mrs. Shermak's 8th grade computer enrichment class at Mesick Middle School are happy to introduce to you the village of Mesick, Michigan located in the northern part of the lower peninsula, just south of Traverse City. Students worked together to research all the things that make Mesick such a great place to live and visit. In this episode you will hear about the history, landmarks, weather, and much more that makes Mesick such a great community!

Third grade students from Ms. Lehmann's class at Poston Road Elementary are excited to share with you their quaint community nestled in the rolling hills of southern Indiana. Students utilized many resources including books, newspaper articles, and the Internet to collect many interesting facts about the unique history of their city. They hope you find it fascinating and that you understand why they are proud of their community!

The sixth grade students at Leeds Public School in Leeds, North Dakota are excited to share with you our comfortable rural community located in central North Dakota near the geographical center of North America. Students spent a great deal of time researching, writing, and recording their town's history and interesting geographical features. They hope you enjoy their podcast and you'll learn why they love living in a small rural community!

Pleasant Hills Middle School students in both Mr. Zunic and Mr. Kerr’s 7th Grade Geography classes worked collaboratively on creating an episode of Our City Podcast about Pittsburgh for the school wide unit and to honor the city’s 250th anniversary. Fourth and fifth grade students in Miss Hesller's Special Interest Class at Rossmoyne Elementary School in Mechanicsburg have prepared a spectacular episode about their Pennsylvanian town.

Third grade students at Jackson Park Elementary School are excited to share their town of Kannapolis, North Carolina. They are located in the Piedmont region of the Tar Heel State. Many things are changing, such as their look and economy, but some things are the same, like the good people of Kannapolis. The students used their research skills of Plan, Do, Review (Super3) to complete this project. Enjoy their first podcast to see how the fabric of Kannapolis is transforming from a textile community into a biotechnology research center.

The 8th grade students at Woodland Presbyterian School invite you to immerse yourself in the culture of Memphis, TN. Journey with us through the city filled with culture and life. The city on the bluff is truly a wonderful place to learn about.

Mrs. Shores' sixth graders at Dunbar Elementary School made this video to introduce you to the neighborhood around their school. The school is located just south of downtown Phoenix. The school is named after Paul Lawrence Dunbar, a great African-American poet. This is an inner-city neighborhood, but residents take a lot of pride in the neighborhood and the school.

The fourth grade gifted classes at Orangewood Elementary are excited to share with you about their favorite city, Fort Myers, Florida. It is located on the lower southern west coast area of the state. The students spent time researching the city using the internet. The teachers Mrs. Medhurst and Mrs. Edenfield worked with the Technology Specialist, Mr. Winkler, to complete the project. You will enjoy their podcast and discover why they love Fort Myers!
