WHAT IS ADVENT? When many people think of Advent, they often think of plucking chocolates from behind the window of an Advent calendar. But the word advent actually comes from the Latin adventus, which simply means “arrival.” Advent is the coming, the arrival, of the presence of God Himself through Jesus. For hundreds of years, followers of Jesus have set aside the four weeks leading up to Christmas as a meaningful season of celebration and anticipation. Whether you realize it or not. All of us are affected deeply by our homes. Family affects us in ways like nothing else—No one can love you like your family, and no one can hurt you like your family. Whether you're single, divorced, widowed, married with kids, whatever the case may be, what does it look like to be thriving at home? What if more is possible? What if forgiveness is possible, restoration is possible, reconciliation is possible in your home? What if God wants to pick up the broken pieces of your family story and put them together to create a beautiful future? For 8 weeks, we’re going to be focusing on the home and getting to the future that God has for each of us.
