This is part 2 of our 5 part series on WUBRG. In this episode, we’re talking about the color Blue with Legacy grinder Jordan Aisaka, Judge Tournament Organizer Frank Stanley, and Magic personality Ben Seck. Blue is a hot topic in Magic. It used to be the best color and now it’s not. We’ll be talking about what makes Blue so cerebral as it is oppressive and hard to play. Blue dominates Legacy, but will it dominate again in Modern or Standard? What are the most notable cards in blue that create game states that are so interesting? What the history behind blue and where is blue headed in the future of Magic design? We’ll answer those questions and more. In this episode, I’m speaking with the champion of white weenie, Craig Wescoe. Craig is a legendary pro player who’s been playing on the pro tour ever since he was a teenager. Craig used to roll with the old school players and decided to play Magic professionally after teaching philosophy at the university level. Craig’s understanding of critical thinking makes him a deep learner and a fierce competitor. Craig has also been writing Magic strategy content for years and recently published his millionth word online. Craig also shares with us his personal philosophy on his Christian faith, veganism, and the stewardship he has towards other people, animals, and the earth. In this episode, I’m talking to the master of Legacy Elves, Daniel Nguyen. Daniel is a Seattle Legacy player who dedicated himself to testing and grinding tournaments. In this episode, I’m talking to the commentator, streamer, and host, TJ Rogers. TJ is an advocate of Magic streams, and wants to help more players and local game stores broadcast their games on the internet. TJ is interested in solving the technical challenges that comes along with streaming. What camera to buy, how to set up your computer, what the overlay should look like, what should the feature match area look like? TJ believes that live streaming matches with players on the internet builds community because it’s a way for more people to feel like they’re at the game store playing magic. TJ is also researching ways of integrating cutting edge card reader technology into live streaming to deliver a better viewing experience. I caught up with TJ in the fall of 2017. In this episode, I’m talking to rapper, comedian, filmmaker, and Magic player, Billy the Fridge. Billy started with local rap battles in the Seattle area and making his own films on a budget. Soon, his creativity made it to the front page of Reddit and where his thoughtful lyrics and edgy visual style caught the attention of millions.
