Alexandre Rockwell, filmmaker and professor at NYU Tisch School of the Arts joins us this week. He’s that one professor you had in college that was so amped about his craft that you couldn’t help but want to pick up a camera. His passion for film making is palpable, contagious even, which is why he is such a great person to teach the future filmmakers of tomorrow. We were interested in learning about what it’s like in film school these days and he shed a ton of light on the experience now. NYU uses film and the students love that they do. Alexandre tells us why he prefers to use it as a filmmaker and why the budding filmmakers got “bit by the film bug.”

Former TV host turned photographer Tabitha Soren joins us this week. Tabitha’s roots in journalism subtly direct the subject matter she shoots, elegantly capturing human experience and presenting it to us from her own unique perspective. We talked about her most recent project, Fantasy Life: a book about the American dream of baseball players as seen through the images she had captured for more than a decade. She even resurrected an old photography format, tintype. Our guest this week has spent time in front of the lens as an actor and professional skateboarder, but his most recent work is done from behind the camera. Intrigued by the cameras on a set, Jason Lee began his foray into all things photographic and came out the other side a talented artist. We discuss his upcoming book “A Plain View,” a collection of large format color film photographs of rural Texas. A selection of his work from "A Plain View" will be shown at an exhibit in Texas from June 2- June 18th but in the fall you'll be able to get a copy of the book yourself and be able to see how beautiful and honest Jason's work is.
