 Peter Shankman – Episode 204 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:23:24

On this episode of Blunt Force Truth, Chuck Woolery and Mark Young open with a discussion of the hypocrisy of new regulations proposed in California for the modeling industry. They invite networking master Peter Shankman on the podcast to discuss Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and how it helped him in his life and career. He learned how his mind works, found the benefits of his “faster brain” and harnessed his gifts into a wealth of successful ventures. Through self-awareness, he has created a daily routine to remove hurdles in the way of him accomplishing what he needs to. They discuss the education system in this country and how it doesn’t adapt to different learning styles, leaving many children (especially those with ADHD) behind. Often the first reaction is to treat the issue with medication rather than coach children to use their “faster brain” to succeed. Shankman is an accomplished entrepreneur who has founded a number of companies, including Help A Reporter Out (HARO). He runs Shankminds, an online community of entrepreneurial Masterminds designed to encourage each other in business and share ideas that work. He acts as a customer service/PR/social media consultant to many high profile clients and shares his expertise as an acclaimed author and speaker.  Tim Larkin – Episode 203 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:17:16

On this episode of Blunt Force Truth, Chuck and Mark invite Tim Larkin to talk about self-defense, though they first discuss the presidential candidates and their philosophies on how to handle the size of the government. Tim Larkin is a self-protection expert, founder of Target Focus Training, where he teaches people how to identify dangerous situations and keep themselves safer against attack. When defending yourself, Larkin teaches that it helps to focus on the similarities of the human body, in the ways all people will be vulnerable. He advocates against changing people’s mindset to justifying using the tool of violence when necessary against a predator. They discuss people legally carrying guns and the false sense of security it can provide, though many people don’t know enough about how to use them effectively. Larkin teaches that our first weapon is our brain and our tools are our body. To effectively defend yourself, you need to be able to understand how to use those tools when you encounter an asocial situation. He discusses the way that society now doesn’t encourage awareness for self-defense and physical threat, in the US or in other countries – citing the travel ban that was issued against him in the UK because of his methods of teaching.  Dr. Daniel Amen – Episode 122 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 53:53

Dr. Daniel Amen is the special guest on this episode of Blunt Force Truth. Chuck Woolery and Mark Young preface their discussion with some blunt truths about health care now and in the future, then they invite Dr. Amen with his extensive knowledge of the brain and its functions to the podcast. Dr. Amen talks about the indiscriminate use of psychiatric medications by medical doctors, even when there are many more natural options for keeping a healthy body and brain. Dr. Amen began looking for alternatives to medications early in his career by diagnosing his patients through brain imaging. Amen stresses his philosophy that you can make your brain better, rather than just coping with your dysfunction, through healthier practices and proper treatment. She is a disabled veteran of the US Army, a Russian linguist, a mother, a pastor’s wife and a patriot.
