This is part one of my chat with one of the countries best dog trainers. Robert started out like many of us. bending a dog to our will, but found that positive communication and reward, was the path to better dogs with less training time.

Kaci & Cory Gillen decided to purchase and remodel an upland hunting lodge in her home state of South Dakota.  The only catch was that it was all Kaci's to manage, guide, and occasionally mop the floors too!! Podcast listeners came from as far away as Florida to experience White Lake Hunting Lodge. We came away with a feeling of meeting family. WLHL is a gold star lodge with a blue-collar heart.

 Christy, and company jump on the line to give us a peek into their South Dakota DYI adventure. They loaded up their dogs, guns, and ammo. left the kids with the husbands and headed north until they found wild roosters and wild places.

Lisa Williams was given the challenge to FIX the problem. The PA game commission has been working day and night to get the answer that we all have been waiting for. Were not out of the woods but.... Tom Cooper chats with me about one of my favorite birds. The American Woodcock/Timberdoodle/Mudbat. Whatever you call it, it's the most interesting upland game bird in North America. We talk tailgate biology and science-based data about this mysterious bird.

We took off in a windstorm, landed on dirt and then jumped onto a charter boat. The dogs even got motion sickness! This trip was a once in a lifetime adventure. Grouse hunters are known for difficult terrain, difficult shots, and the world's fastest flushing gamebird. So we thought, why not add travel logistics to make it even more challenging.

CZ USA hosted the best Scholastic shooters from around the country, to break and set a new Guinness World Record of ( the most clay targets broke in a twelve-hour period.) Dave Miller and four teenagers stood strong for 12 hours and now they are in the record books.

Al Harmeyer, along with Chris, Tracey, and Steve have 100 years of combined service to NAVHDA. From Training to testing, to Judging and raising litters of great dogs at Krystal Creek Kennels. This family bleeds NAVHDA. Al and I went hunting grouse for a few hours and then sat down to chat about the day, along with some of KCK's training tips for Utility gun dogs.

I stopped at Juggernaut Spaniels to visit Jordan Horak. His new twist on an old training tool will be standard equipment in my kennel from here on out. He didn't just reinvent the wheel, he showed me some proven techniques to yard training that I had not thought possible. Especially for those with limited space. Jordan's success in the Spaniel trial world was built off this idea.

Had a great front porch chat with John. His farm in Northern Michigan sure doesn't look ducky... bet when he floods it, they will come. This guy has figured out how to build his own personal duck factory, yet he has also traveled the globe, chasing waterfowl on three continents. But when it comes down to it, there's no place like home.
