I was so excited that I got to visit with the one and only Katy Perry recently. I love this young woman so much. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. An incredible talent and truly just so kind and willing to carry so much on her shoulders. She is honest, down to earth and truly real. It's  a great conversation between two friends. All month long we've been celebrating gardening and beautiful flowers and soon to be vegetables bursting into abundance. For me my garden is so much more than a source of beauty or food. It is a metaphor for life. You don't have to be a gardener to enjoy this podcast. I would love to share these thoughts with you. So please come join me for a walk through my garden.

Right before Miranda Lambert and I spoke...she was washing a sink full of her own dishes. In fact she told me she almost missed her call time because she was simply being herself. She was playing with her dogs and doing chores. This young lady is so real and true to herself. Please take the time to listen in. Having hope or being hopeful is often looked at as something you are or aren't. It is often viewed as innate. All year long I intend to explore, encourage and share hope. In this particular podcast I want to begin a discussion of how it is possible for anyone to move forward from darkness or pessimism and into a hopeful space.

All month long we've been celebrating the power of love. I could not think of a better way to share this week's podcast than to tell the story written by Rory Feek "This Life I Live". It's such an amazing testimony. It not only portrays romantic love but it glorifies the highest love. All month long we have been challenging everyone to choose love over all of the negativity that seems to be dominating our daily lives. It's especially crazy over social media and media in general. What is particularly concerning is that it's actually infiltrated real relationships. It's so puzzling as to why that kind of energy spreads like a horrible flu. Wouldn't it be great to have a vaccine for that? We can't offer a cure but we can offer a home remedy (a kind of calming cup of tea). Dealing with death or the terminal illness of a loved one can often send us into a downward spiral of devastating grief. Sometimes this type of pain can literally paralyze and rob us of faith and hope. In this podcast I would like to acknowledge that and call upon the truth. There is no way around pain. There is only a way through it. If you are facing this most difficult of life's circumstances, you are not alone. You are on holy ground. Call on your faith at this moment and if you can't do that call on your friends. Know that I wish to be counted among them.
