In Field Meat Care with Hank Shaw 8.53 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:03:44

In Field Meat Care with Hank Shaw 8.53 Hank shaw shed some ligfht on in field meat care, cooking preparations, some do's and Don'ts and ideas of what to do with your rutty old buck! Plus we talk about his up comming coues deer hunt.. good episode you downt wanna miss!   A bit about Hank Shaw: Hunter, Gather, Cook My name is Hank Shaw. I write. I fish. I dig earth, forage, raise plants, live for food and kill wild animals. I’ll drink fancy Scotch, craft beer, Pabst Blue Ribbon, a fine Barolo or a Bud, depending on my mood or who’s offering. I spend my days thinking about new ways to cook and eat anything that walks, flies, swims, crawls, skitters, jumps – or grows. I am the omnivore who has solved his dilemma. This is my story. Honest food is what I’m after. Nothing packaged, nothing in a box, nothing wrapped in plastic — unless I wrapped it in plastic myself. I eat meat, but I loathe industrial farming. So I’ve not bought meat or fish for our home more than a handful of times since 2005. If that makes me a meat hunter, so be it. I am also a constant forager, angler, gardener and fan of farmer’s markets. Eating locally and making good food from scratch is what I do. Seasonality rules my diet: If you catch me buying asparagus from Chile, you have my permission to slap me. I am especially interested in those meats and veggies that people don’t eat much any more, like pigeons or shad or cardoons. I have nothing against good grass-fed beef or a head of lettuce, it’s just that others are doing just fine writing about those foods. I’m trying to walk a less-traveled path.

Hunting with Pack Llamas Beau Baty and John Stallone 8.44 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:36:39

Hunting with Pack Llamas Beau Baty of Wilderness Ridge Trail Llamas and John Stallone discuss the benifits of hunting with pack Llamas, how to plan a trip with Llamas, how to get into owning pack animals and more.. Chek out Beau's website for more info Hunting & Llamas Pack llamas as well as horses & mules have been our go to for accessing remote hunting camps in the backcountry for over 25 years. For the last 8 years we have used llamas exclusively and here is why: Llamas solve a big problem for most back country enthusiast. If you are a backpack hunter looking to extend your distance away from access roads llamas are viable options. A friend of mine first introduced to llamas in 2013 said it best when telling his hunting buddies why he uses llamas: “More gear in, more meat out, longer hunting trips, and better food”. Hunting remote areas in the fall months has always been a tradition as well as an adventure for us. At each years end the desire to return to the untamed is ever present. Llamas have allowed us to experience our backcountry adventures on a different level giving us the opportunity to go farther, stay longer and hike harder. It doesn’t matter if you’re the hunter with a coveted limited entry tag in hand looking for the trophy of a lifetime or the hunter with a general season public land tag, the mindset is usually the same: remote area , low hunting pressure, good habitat, with lots of game. This has been a key to our success enjoyment. Llamas are the driving force behind these great experiences. We have come to trust, love and rely on our team of pack llamas and we can’t imagine hunting without them.

I then share my films either on youtube and or in film festivals. I try to be a positive role model for not only conservation and the sport of hunting, but also for the younger generation that might look up to me. I don't necessarily like to call myself a "Pro". Because pros get paid to do a task, more like a job. Instead i like to call myself a dedicated hunter/videographer who's true passion is conserving wildlife and being in the outdoors. We chose to call ourselves Hard Working Hunters not just because we work hard throughout the year so that we can hunt, But Also because when we hunt, we hunt hard with a passion and desire to know what’s over the next ridge!  Zach Kenner True conservation video, zach kenner Hardworking hunter
