Crowds gather in New York City and Washington after President Obama's announcement that the al-Qaeda chief was killed in a raid. What does this have to do with addiction?
Change behavior first and the heart will eventually do what it wants to, over being forced to do what it begrudgingly has to do. CS Lewis - "You don't get 2nd things by putting 2nd things 1st! You get 2nd things by putting first things first." St. Augustine - "Put God on the throne of your heart and do exactly what you want to do"

Hebrews 11 (New King James Version) By Faith We Understand 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

One’s daily surface identity’s authenticity occurs when one's emotional expression is let out and put on display. Feelings build up and rush out of the heart like a fire hose. Many times for the addicted person, It’s exposing the fact that; where we are rooted is not deep enough to insure any sense of long term fullness, rest or security. Hope needs to be placed in a deeper foundation of solid truth.

Quotes from the film “Inception” Cobb: What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient... highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed - fully understood - that sticks; right in there somewhere. The seed that we planted in this man's mind may change everything. You're asking me for Inception. I hope you do understand the gravity of that request. Cobb: She locked away a secret, deep inside herself, something she once knew to be true... but chose to forget.

How do we stop stealing when/if stealing is all we know? And how do we live in the truth when that truth may knock down like dominos the security of who we believe we actually are? The Truth is in reviled realities!

“I can’t express how grateful I am that someone is tackling this subject with both a pastoral heart and an understanding of how the devastating effects of sexual assault can wreak havoc for decades after the abuse. It is an epidemic issue where resources are scarce. There isn’t a weekend that goes by where we aren’t told a gut-wrenching tale of innocence stolen and left trying to help a man or woman make sense of their pain. I praise God for the gospel that can heal and restore and for the Holcombs that had the courage and wisdom to write this book for us.” —Matt Chandler, Lead Pastor, The Village Church, Highland Village, Texas
