The biggest requirement to become a leader in the Kingdom of God is to first become a servant. And the greatest example of a servant leader the world was ever given was Jesus. When we follow His example and humble ourselves to serve anyone and everyone, we also help them to grow spiritually and prepare their hearts to do the same.

The Bible tells us of God's character, and it describes all the things He created as "good". And when we surrender our lives to Him, He works in us to manifest goodness and mercy in our lives. If we claim to follow Jesus, our lives should be breaking off what's bad, holding fast to what's good, and trusting that His will for us is always better than what we could attain for ourselves!

God's given us the truth of Scripture not only as a gift, but also as a weapon! The devil uses lies to distract us from God's calling. But when we use both prayer and the Word to safeguard against the attack of the enemy, we're better able to fight his attempts at destroying God's work.

In the same way that we grow and mature in our physical lives, we're supposed to be growing and maturing in our spiritual lives, too! Our spiritual "workouts" aren't just meant to be learned, they're meant to be applied. And when we apply the spiritual principles we learn to our lives, we're better able to teach others and help them grow in relationship with God.

When it comes to the emptiness we feel inside, we attempt to fill the void by "stuffing ourselves" with all kinds of earthly pleasures, from food, to fame, to money, to relationships, and more. But the only One who can truly fill us is Jesus. And when we let Him complete us and satisfy the longing we feel, change starts happening from the inside out -- affecting not just us, but the world around us, too!

God's blessed us beyond what we could ever comprehend. And the best way to thank Him for all that He's given us is to turn around and give Him all that we have. The Lord's asking us to give generously, no matter how much or how little we have, because when we do, He always fills us with so much more.

Just as a mother feeds her baby milk, God allows us to feed on "spiritual milk" until we grow mature enough to feed ourselves. But we're not meant to stay dependent forever. As growth takes place in our relationship with the Lord, He begins to reveal certain behaviors we need to be weaned from in order to continue moving forward.

Have you ever noticed that an angry person tends to lack gratitude, while a joyful person tends to be rich in thankfulness? It's no coincidence that the things we think about affect the way that we act. When we find it hard to come up with things to be grateful for, let's challenge ourselves to do it anyway, and to thank God continually!
