We all know the feeling. We take a leap, only to land flat on our face. Or just when a plan is perfectly in place, it all falls apart. Life’s failures and disappointments can make it difficult to move forward, so how do we pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off? Jeremiah’s attempts to fulfill his calling were met with ridicule, punishment, and suffering, but God never left his side. What can the story of “the weeping prophet” teach us about perseverance and trust in God during life’s most trying times?

Vision is critical to where we end up in life. It shapes our actions, what we do with our time, our energy and our resources. Without vision, we flounder. It is true for us as individuals and as a church. As we begin a new year, it is an important time to remind ourselves of our vision.
