It is important to recognize that a CDO’s relationship with the business is a two-way street. As the CDO collects information about the business, he or she must also deliver value. This mutual relationship with the business is perhaps best seen when CDOs act in their Business Optimizer mode. When focusing on Business Optimization, it is important to have three goals in mind: inspiration, improvement, and growth.
