The author of "Overheated; The Human Cost of Climate Change" will join us.  UC Berkeley Law professor Andrew Guzman will tell us why global warming is so much more than an environmental problem! Author and longtime eco- activist Jayni Chase will check in from the U.N. Conference on Happiness and share her green values and visions for a healthier world!

There is renewed focus on the possibility of a carbon tax from both sides of the issue. Climate Crock's Peter Sinclair joins us to share his expert opinion on the chances this win-win-win proposal will actually happen, and what it means that opponents are ramping up their rhetoric. Next Ben Wessel, of 350 Action, explains why the climate group has-- for the first time-- endorsed a candidate for office, Rep. Ed Markey. And speaking of firsts... Whole Foods has announced it will  be labeling its GMO products as it tries to procure fewer of them over the next five years. We'll hear from spokeswoman, Libba Letton about that ground-breaking decision

What can we expect from President Obama's choice to head the EPA? Gina McCarthy is being mostly cheered by environmentalists, including Frank O'Donnell, President of Clean Air Watch, who says we  should all be breathing easier soon. Is the political logjam on climate change a serious environmental threat? We'll talk to a young columnist who says citizens need to wake up and smell the carbon and not vote for any candidates who are naive, neglectful, incompetent or ignorant on science! Last, Alexis Madrigal, author of "Powering the Dream" on the history and future of green technology.

Environmental coverage in mainstream news is sorely lacking, especially in relation to how quickly the challenges are mounting. We'll talk to Tyson Miller with the Project For Improved Environmental Coverage about the first ever green ranking of major news outlets. And while we're on the subject of what's lacking in attention to climate coverage we'll chat with J.J. Goldberg, a writer with the progressive Jewish publication, Forward, about his column this week entitled "President Obama's Glaring Omission!

We’ll talk to author John Englander about his timely book, "High Tide on Main Street--Rising Sea Level and the Coming Coastal Crisis". He’ll tell us  what we can expect over the coming months, years and decade along our coastlines. In our second segment we’ll look at what the tide is washing up on beaches...plastic. You’ll meet Judith and Richard Lang who’ve spent 15 years curating trash, making art out of  plastic debris and sending a graphic message about our wasteful ways and how garbage doesn't go ‘away’.

Hopes are high that the President's Inaugural mention of climate change as one of the key issues in his second administration will be followed by sustained action. We'll get reaction from Brad Johnson of the Climate Silence and Forecast The Facts campaigns. Next, we'll get reaction to Nebraska's Governor ok'ing the Keystone XL route through his state. Benjamin Gotschall is Energy Director at BOLD Nebraska. He says the fight is not over yet!!

Dr. Susan Shaw is a marine expert who says our oceans are becoming a toxic soup. She should know, she dove into the Gulf of Mexico after the BP oil spill almost three years ago. Despite 2012 being the hottest year in the US, climate coverage continued to be cool – we’ll talk to Shauna Theel with Media Matters of America. And last but not least we’ll chat with fellow PRN host, Caryn Hartglass about the connections between cleaner food and a healthier planet

And last but not least, climate activist and author Eli Sparks shares her hopes for 2013!
