This week on Gun Girl Radio Randi Rogers and Julie Golob talk about their buckets lists.  With 80 world and national titles between them what could possibly be left? The answers are surprising. Randi and Julie discuss different matches, sports, locations and guns they dream of using some day! Main Topic: What shooting sports would the GG try? What Guns do GG want to try? What places do GG want to travel and shoot? Events GG want to see/ watch or be in. What are the GG goals? Who do the GG dream of meeting? Links: Duel in the Sun Part 2 Julie's 1st Match Back Northern Rockies Sectional SASS Gatling Gun Thompson Olympic Games IPSC World Shoot Presidents 100 Club Eddie Eagle Listener Questions: Chris: @julieG1 @RandiMRogers Hey R & J, I may be too late but I'd like to hear thoughts on how (in my view) women shooters are leading the sport. Bryce: Hi Randi and Julie - I just discovered your podcast after listening to Julie on the Balloon Goes Up podcast. Great series you have here-- I'm on episode 4 and moving along in order. I do have an only child-- a daughter, now 4 1/2 years.  She knows the Eddie Eagle rules so it's a start. Not sure when I'll actually have her start shooting but that\'s not the reason I'm messaging. It's mainly about me worrying about how her friends and families might react, especially since I live in Seattle. My daughter might hear the "guns are bad" so I'm trying to teach her guns are good for sports. My questions:-- When you've met parents of other children(who might not know you're celebrities) and they learn of your profession, have some reacted in a negative way? How have you handled it?-- How do you start your kids shooting? Charlene: Hello again!! - I am currently at Camp Perry and having a great time meeting and speaking with many people. I thought I would share one topic that came up as I do not recall it being discussed previously. We were discussing ways of cutting some costs and it was pointed out that volunteering was an outstanding way to not only cut costs, but to support the sport. Some of the benefits mentioned included anything from covering entry fees to reduced lodging costs. This could really make an impact when you consider attending matches that have fees in excess of $100 in addition to the other expenses you may incur. Can you provide more info about this?  Thanks again for taking time out to bring us the scoop!! Mike in TN: Hey Gun Girls - I normally listen to your podcasts during my routine travel from East TN to Southern OH. Your knowledge and experience in the shooting sports makes the trip fly by. I started shooting some local USPSA matches last year and I routinely dry fire practice. I was wondering if either of you have ever practiced using gas blowback airsoft guns and if you have any thoughts on the pros or cons of training with airsoft pistols? Keep up the good work. When should you clean your guns? Cleaning Vs. Maintenance Accessory Cleaning: Holsters, Magazine Pouches, Sights, Magazines Home Cleaning Kits Vs. Travel Cleaning Kits Links: Mill-Comm Kleenbore Cleaning Kit Listener Questions: Paige - How do you feel about ultrasonic cleaners? Bryan -  How can I trick my kids (ladies aged 6 & 9) into cleaning my guns....and to do it right? Jay  - Firearms today are made to be very reliable but during a competition what would you recommend to a good time to clean the firearm. Eric  - What you people do to a handgun compared to most people’s and the difference between a bolt rifle and a machine gun. Do you use Carb cleaner? How often do you fully strip and clean firing pin channels etc.? How do you feel about Mobil1 fully Synthetic? Surveyor Seven  - Have you found anything or method to completely removed powder stains from a cylinder of a stainless steel S&W revolver, short of buffing? I have used compounds like “Flitz” and a lot of finger rubbing and still have that grey tinge, I don’t have any problem cleaning a “blued” cylinder with normal “lead” removing liquids, thoughts ? David - Don't use carb cleaner in guns with fiber optic sights! Jennifer - Since a .22 pistol like a Ruger is harder to disassemble, how often do you clean it? Ammo tends to burn dirtier, but the disassembly and reassembly is a pain. Warren - Yes, will you clean my guns please. Bob - Do either of you use Frog Lube or had any experience with it? If not what do you all use? Do you use different lube for pistols or rifles? Garry- Frog lube is GREAT ! Jason - Are Glocks really dishwasher safe? But seriously, what do you gals recommend we have in our shooting bag for cleaning our gun on the range at a match? Kim - Hi Randi and Julie! Have you both tried FireClean? I have and after completing since 1975 I have not found anything better!!!! Tony - Have ether of you used slipstream. It is very good you can feel the difference as soon as you put it on.   This episode of Gun Girl Radio was brought to you by… A Girl & A Gun Women's Shooting League www.agirlandagunclub.com GunGoddess.com – www.gungoddess.com

 GGP 022 – Junior Shooter Molly Smith’s Busy 2013 Season | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 46:51

This week on Gun Girl Radio Randi Rogers and Julie Golob interview junior shooter Molly Smith! Molly Smith is the Junior Team Captain of Team Smith and Wesson, writer of the blog The Molly Minute and well on her way to becoming a supreme court justice. Main Topic: How did Molly get into shooting? What's it like being a member of Team Smith & Wesson and being the Junior Team Captain? How did Molly do at Bianchi Cup? IRC? West Coast Steel Challenge? What is Molly's favorite event at Bianchi and why? Least favorite? Is it difficult transitioning so quickly from Bianchi to IRC? The three sports are so different. What is Molly's favorite? Molly had a chance to work with the NRA Women's Network and were recently featured in a New Energy piece. What did she think of it? Molly's advice for Junior Shooters. Links: Molly's Blog  Molly's Facebook Molly at Women's Outdoor News Molly on NRA Women's New Energy Girls State Youth Education Summit by NRA Article on Molly Listener Questions: Robert: Emailed us about Towel from Summer Shooting Tips. shout out to say thanks for the email and Randi is also a big fan of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy! lol Matt: Well Girls, I got Bianchi off my bucket list, and now plan on IRC, Revo nationals, Camp Perry distinguished revolver and high power match. Any other must shoot matches? And maybe some tips on getting in. The Idpa nationals and many others seem to fill up almost instantly or need many points to get on the list. Thanks and have a great one! Brice: Good luck to Julie at the NRS section match this month!  I know you\'ll do great. One tip I\'d like to share for shooting in the heat:  I like to use a towel or scarf and soak it in water, drape it around your neck to help cool off.  Probably less useful for sponsored shooters, but awesome for those of us willing to look a little scruffy. Jason:  Just thought I'd share a tip that might be useful on an upcoming episode of GG radio. Make sure your tetanus booster is up to date. Ranges have a lot of cut hazards. Got a little to close to cover at the Carolina Cup and cut myself. EMS advised to make sure I was up-to-date vaccination wise. 2nd tip - get your booster several days before your next match - they stay sore. Charlene- Hello!! You all continue to deliver great shows! Keep it up! Here are my questions. The sport is so much fun that I am wondering when a good time would be to step it up a level say a regional or even nationals. When did you decide to make that step? I imagine there is no easy answer and the simple one is \"when you feel you are ready\". While winning is great, I think fun and meeting more great people are a good reason. Again, thanks for the great show everyone and I look forward to many, many more :) Giovanni: Dear Randi and Julie, Hi ladies me and my dad listen to your show every week. I am ten years old and I shoot U.S.P.S.A., 3 gun, and Pro am. I met Randi at the 3 gun nation event in Tulsa Oklahoma. I hope to meet Julie soon. I wanted to tell you about a project I just started and see what you thought about it.  I recently started using my shooting to raise money for a veteran\'s charity called The Lone Survivor Foundation.  The Lone Survivor Foundation helps veterans that have been wounded in combat or, suffer from PTSD, overcome the challenges they face back home. I wanted to do something positive with my shooting. My dad helped me set up a facebook page to track my progress. https://www.facebook.com/GHRShooting I also have a donation page on The Lone Survivor Website http://lonesurvivorfoundation.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=1034321&lis=1&kntae1034321=3DF4F9A6BD514814A9F7AE9A91BC1D48&supId=386214461 Please let me know what you think.  If you can, please share this with your shooting friends Jason Mather Would love to hear Julie and Randi discuss their dry fire regimen.
