Corona Lockdown | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

With this terrible global pandemic now hitting almost every country on earth I chatted with Terry Whitehead to discover how he has been coping. We use the word 'lockdown' but it is more a question of authorities making us change our ways. We looked at the situation here in Spàin with aspects to the fore including how the religious festivals have been affected. Needless to say we looked at how it appears locally as most of the Madrid and Barcelona news coverage has instigated a lot of our worries. The UK has a different approach and Terry outlined why he felt this was sensible. We also tried to tease out any positives that might come from current suffering. It is pretty obvious that the economic picture will be very different in the foreseeable future and wish everyone well. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to all the medical staff everywhere and many others who are trying to keep us all fed and safe including the shopworkers and delivery drivers and cleaners everywhere. Stay safe, everyone, wherever you might be

A Question of Priorities | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled unanimously on Thursday that Spain’s deportation of two sub-Saharan migrants, who jumped the border fence separating Morocco from the Spanish exclave city of Melilla in 2014, with around 70 others, did not violate the European Convention on Human Rights. Spain is failing to address inequality, and some policies are keeping people in poverty by design. That’s according to Philip Alston, the United Nations’ special rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights. After spending 12 days in Spain, Alston gave a press conference on Friday that described a country where many people have been left behind by the post-crisis recovery and where the social-protection system “is broken.” UK News has been dominated by the dreadful aftermath of Storm Dennis and the suicide of Love Island presenter Caroline Flack. The Brits Awards then dominated press and TV coverage begging the question as to what really is of importance on the TV screens

Emmanuel Macron is leading demands for the UK to be forced to commit to mirroring EU rules on employment and the environment forever if it wants a post-Brexit free trade deal with the bloc. PUBLIC cooperation helped police take 34 suspected thieves off the streets of Alicante city last month. The majority of the offences committed related to thefts of vehicles and break-ins at homes and businesses. IMAGES of a young British adrenalin junkie risking his life to scale a Benidorm skyscraper to get a selfie have gone viral. Passers-by in Avenida Alfonso Puchades could not believe their eyes on Sunday morning, when they looked up to the sky and saw @thelittlenuisance, as the young man is known, perched with mobile in hand on the 11th floor of a block of flats in Avenida Alfonso Puchades. A Question Time audience member has slammed the dress at the centre of the 'shouldergate' row as 'like a disco outfit'. The guest branded what Tracy Brabin wore at the despatch box in the House of Commons 'inappropriate'.
