The High and Mighty Beer Show 49 (11/10/12)
The Brothers fondly recall porno dirndls, puking, and polka in St Louis, chat with Show-Me-Stater Brent Stafford about Budweiserâs sellout, and tap a 2-liter Franconian jug.
The bros discuss the legal ramifications of importing F@#!ing Hell Bier, chat with their Missouri connection Brent Stafford, and sip pumpkin pie liqueur.
The Shelton Brothers get the lowdown on local barley lore from Andrea Stanley of Valley Malt, and frenetically slug their way through a random collection of pumpkin ales.
Itâs pumpkin season, and the boys give a call to Phil Bannatyne, owner of Cambridge Brewing Company and the original east coast pumpkin ale revivalist.
The SBs recall the final stops on their summer tour of Germany- visits to the F.X. Glossner Brauerei, in the Oberpfalz town of Neustadt, and itâs satellite Seligenportener Kloster.
In part zwei of the German fall series, the Brothers, joined by Frau Tessa, discuss the magical waters of the Klosterbrauerei Weissenohe and the sexy dirndls of the Kulmbacher Bier Woche.
Joined by Tessa, Danâs German (and Franconian) frau, the boys crack open a 5-liter can and recall the wonders of the Kulmbacher Bier Woche and Forchheim's Annafest.
A sampling of the actual High & Mighty brand beers leads to a snappy discussion on a variety of subjects- noble hops, middle-age, fabric softener, pope-smoke, Jesus-freaks, cinema.....
The SBs turn on the southern accents, to varying degrees of authenticity, as they take on several Belgian/French-influenced ales from Austin and a particularly foul can of New Orleans brew.
The Bros sample a beer mentioned in the steamy hit book 50 Shades of Grey, segue to a first-hand account of running with the bulls in Pamplona, and drink a 3-liter bottle of apfelwein.
In this fifth and final Spanish episode, the boys talk iced coffee and cocaine, visit with multi-cultural half-birdman brewer Benjapon Kruthanooch, endure prison flashbacks, and drink cider.
Continuing their Catalan odyssey, the boys ring up American-expat Barcelona importer Robert Merryman for the inside scoop before cracking open some random cerveses d'espanyols.
The Sheltons express their love, yet again, for the beers of Cataloniaâs Ca lâArenys, and drag unsuspecting good-guy guest Wade through a rigorous tasting of over-aged cervesa.
The SBs just canât get enough of Spain, and they happily tear through a small stash of bottles from Carlos, brewer at Agullons and the godfather of Spanish craft beer.
