The Colorado Rockies made a huge investment in their mega-star Nolan Arenado on Tuesday of this week. The Nuggets made a similar investment in Nikola Jokic this last offseason. It's not wonder the trajectory of each franchise is pointing up. A Canadian reporter who covers the Toronto Raptors once described Nikola Jokic as a "7 foot bag of milk". In 2016 Jeff wrote what was intended to be a series of articles on the Peter Bynoe and Bertram Lee ownership of the Denver Nuggets. Jeff talks about reviving that project and goes into an overview of what happened from 1989-92. Enjoy the show!
The Denver Nuggets are 21-9 and sit atop the Western Conference. They are winning despite missing three starters. Much of this has to do with Nikola Jokic understanding that not all scoring is "selfish". In the latest Mortcast, Jeff talks about Jokic becoming that superstar the city of Denver needs. The Nuggets are now 14-7 after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers on November 27th in Denver. The latest victory points to a fact that needs to be stated unequivocally ... Tim Connelly needs to be extended now, with no delay. Also I take gratuitous shots at Lakers fans. You'll love it. Enjoy the show!
In an era that emphasizes space and freedom of movement, the Nuggets first 10 games were a bit of an aberration. Slow-it-down, all-game style defensive squads are a thing of the past, replaced by teams who dictate with their offense and pick their spots on defense. The Nuggets need to get their identity back to being that offensive juggernaut that CAN play good defense when the chips are down. This includes Nikola Jokic who needs to find himself again. Enjoy the show!
