My good mate David Cavage posted his fine version of this classic tune on the 4 St. forum some time back ..... at that time I was as crook as, an unable to play my banjo for quite some time. But, at long last, I'm finally comin' good again, and could'nt wait to post my take of this tune, I've always loved!. Thanks for tunin' in ..... KeyC, tuning CGBD. ...... Don. Musical comedy movie ''High Society,'' was a big hit in 1956, featuring cast toppers Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Grace Kelly, and Louis Armstrong And His All Stars. This song was sung by Bing Crosby, telling of his love for ''Samantha'' who was played by Grace Kelly .... it was her last movie appearance, .... as she was soon to be '' Princess Of Monaco.'' In 1961, ''Kenny Ball and his Jazmen,'' also had a no.1 hit in the UK with their trad version of ''Samantha.'' I'd like to thank my friend Marco, for collaborating with me, in making our audio clip a reality!. And thanks f' tunin' in. ps. Marcos on tenor banjo, and yours truly on plectrum banjo.
Factory made neck, 10 inch PVC body, bicycle spokes for J hooks, fishing line for strings.
I've recorded this short tune to test a tenor banjo, a six-string banjo and a guitar, after a job on their rusted strings. It seems they sound good now. Somebody could wonder why I didn't replace those strings: the matter is that I've found all my stock of strings widely rusted (Thomastik-Infeld excluded). I'm very disappointed about that, in addition I've found only one set with no rust at a domestic music store . The other 5/6 were rusted!!

One of the many popular hit songs, written by Irishman Gilgert O'Sullivan from the early 70's. In all his songs, he had a gifted way with words,, and the true story behind this tune's, worth listening to. This was a lovely tune to work on, and hope you enjoy my banjo version. Thaks f'tunin' in .... Don. Key Bb, tuning CGBD.
