Cultivate Simple 6: On the Hunt | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:12

In this week's show we discuss hunting and the reasons, skills, and equipment needed to do so effectively and ethically. Ethical Hunting According to NRA's Hunter Code of Ethics I will consider myself an invited guest of the landowner, seeking his permission, and so conducting myself that I may be welcome in the future. I will obey the rules of safe gun handling and will courteously but firmly insist that others who hunt with me do the same. I will obey all game laws and regulations, and will insist that my companions do likewise. I will do my best to acquire those marksmanship and hunting skills, which insure clean, sportsmanlike kills. I will support conservation efforts, which can assure good hunting for the future generations of Americans. I will pass along to younger hunters the attitudes and skills essential to a true outdoor sportsman.  Cultivate Simple 5: The Dark Side | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:27:31

In this week's show we discuss the dark side of keeping animals. Death is a part of life and it is the only thing that is guaranteed for everything. But "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" so "Let your food be your medicine, and let your medicine be your food." The first year dig up the bed and remove as much of the plants and roots as you can. During the first and second year pull any new growth you see ASAP, especially in the spring. This will help exhaust the nutrients in the roots/rhizomes. There’s a reason it’s called goat weed. If you can have them, goats will be one of your best lines of defense against noxious weeds. In the show notes there will be a great article about using goats.
