We went on a summer trip up to the Smokey Mountains.  I had no expectation that I would see or do anything that related back to Disney.  But of course, I was wrong.  I seem to always have this lens that is on the lookout for Disney-related things. I haven't made it out to DisneyLand to see Galaxy's Edge, but I have watched a lot of videos and read a lot of blog posts about the new land - so I thought it'd be fun to provide my own perspective.  I'll be honest and say I don't love what I see so far....but there's still time to make some adjustments before it opens at Disney World. Long before the Disney Skyliner, there was another skyway at the Disney theme parks (DisneyLand, the Magic Kingdom, and Tokyo DisneyLand).  I talk about the design, how it worked, and reminisce a little about riding it. Disney had never managed hotels before, but they decided to get into the business when they opened Walt Disney World.  I take a look back at Disney getting into the hotel business in central Florida.  There are two parts - the addition of hotels along Hotel Plaza Blvd, and the Hilton Inn South that taught the new Cast Members how to run a hotel. As I intended to, I visited Walt Disney World last week, and spent a couple of days doing some fun things.  Hopefully, I caught some of the things you asked me for....by far my favorite part of this visit was people watching: we had some amusing interactions. I also give you some updates about construction (there's a lot), talk about the monorail, and share some observations. We also had a chance to see the Blue Angels and I was churro guy!     Overview:  Today’s main theme is the announcements about  Star Wars Galaxys Edge. We have dates, and know many of the shthings that will appear in the land.  Plus, I’ve got some other news and notes to share. Notes: Galaxy's Edge will either be terrific or it will merit a yawn....hard to say which....but they've invested a lot of time and effort (not to mention money) into the parks to make it happen, and the sheer size is massive.  So it certainly has the potential.  I can't wait to see it.     Overview:  Back in 1989, the Disney MGM Studios opened as a real working movie studio. They let us in on some movie making secrets and featured some cool little shows that showed how things work. Soundsation was a booth where you could hear Holophonic sound. I explore the history and play the audio for you. Notes: This was a simple pleasure.   Overview:  Today, I take a look around to see what's cooking - literally. I'm on a quest to find vegetarian dining at all 4 theme parks, and in some resorts. Here's to hoping you take some time on your next trip to check out some of these terrific options! Notes: Its not all that hard to find really good (and tasty!) vegetarian options around the parks at counter service restaurants.  And even vegan options are popping up more and more. As I noted in the podcast, when in doubt about any ingredients for vegetarian reasons or allergies, just ask! >>  I listened to the podcast and realized I made an editing error while in the animal kingdom. Oops. >> I start talking about the vegetable stack at the harambe market then suddenly switch to restaurantasaurus to talk about the black bean burger. >> Then switch back to the stack and back again. >> I must have dragged an edit in error. My bad.

  Overview:  Today’s podcast is a tribute to the Golden Horseshoe which begat the Diamond Horseshoe at WDW which begat the Tokyo Disneyland version of the Golden Horseshoe. I talk about it’s history, what Walt created, and Disney Legends Betty Taylor (aka Slu Foot Sue) and Wally Boag (aka Pecos Bill). Notes: I find it intriguing how much Walt loved the old west and included many elements at DisneyLand. I wanted to point out that while it’s clearly a “saloon” and modeled as such, Walt was careful to have Slu Foot Sue refer to it as a “cafe” The audio of Wally Boag as Jose is pulled from the “barker bird” who sat outside the Tiki Room for many years.
