 Nature | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:51

Welcome to the West Chester Story Slam podcast! Our July Story Slam was themed Nature. We figured this would be a great theme for the height of summer, and we heard tales of people’s love/hate relationship with Mother Nature. Peter Cunniffe has told stories at our Story Slams occasionally, and he returned to the mic for the first time in 2017, and won the night. Here is Pete’s Nature story. The next story was a crowd favorite - you might say this nature story had the room abuzz. Here’s Patrick Carmody. Our final storyteller was a first-timer, which we love. Julie Hazzard worked up the nerve to tell a story at intermission, throwing her name in the hat. She was the final storyteller on the night, and we’re thrilled she told this nature tale. Here’s Julie. If you are interested in attending one of our Story Slams live, here are some tips. West Chester Story Slam is held on the second Tuesday of the month. Seats do sell out so you want to plan ahead. And if you want to tell a story, buy your ticket and then see me - Jim - when you arrive! All the info you need can be found at our website.  Foreign Soil | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:46

Welcome to the West Chester Story Slam podcast! Our June Story Slam was themed Foreign Soil. We heard stories about traveling all over the world - China, Australia, Tokyo - even Tennessee! We also were thrilled to hear from several first-time storytellers, which was awesome!  When the night was over, Jack Kennedy was declared the winner with this story about representing the USA! Let’s travel to Italy now! We’ve all had travel days that don’t go as planned. Allie Sibole explains such a day. Allie was also a first-time storyteller who lives in West Chester. And guess what -  the same can be said for our final Storyteller - Ryan Roe! Our July 11th Story Slam is themed Nature! We want to hear stories about your love of the great outdoors - hiking, sailing, trail running, gardening, rock climbing, you get the idea. If you are interested in attending one of our Story Slams live, here are some tips. West Chester Story Slam is held on the second Tuesday of the month. Seats do sell out so you want to plan ahead.  Luck - May | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 23:02

Our May Story Slam was themed Luck! We heard stories about good luck, bad luck, and no luck. It was a fun night for those lucky enough to get tickets! Thanks to all who came out! Our winner on the night was Cynthia Angst. Cynthia told us about the ebb and flow of luck in her life. If you love West Chester, you don’t want to miss her story. When you reflect on your own luck, do you think about your work? Shari Donath did just that. We loved her touching story about how a new job gave her a fresh perspective in life. Our final story is from Nick Kupsey. This story had us all holding our breath - and a word of warning - Nick recalls using some foul language to a friend in the middle of the story. Our June 13th Story Slam is themed “Foreign Soil.” We want to hear stories about travling to foreign lands AND people who immigrated to the foreign land of the USA. If you are interested in attending one of our Story Slams live, here are some tips. West Chester Story Slam is held on the second Tuesday of the month. Seats do sell out so you want to plan ahead. Welcome to the West Chester Story Slam podcast! Our April Story Slam was themed “Rebellion,” and we heard stories about rebellious teens and rebellious parents! It was fascinating to hear the stories of rebellion. Our winner on the night was Aaron Mills. Aaron told this story of teenage hijinks in the small town where he grew up, and how word travels fast in a tight knit community. Our next storyteller is a first-timer at our microphone. Annmarie Kelly told the fascinating story of how her traditional views turned into a rebellious view of marriage. Our final storyteller tonight is Nick Kupsey. Nick tells about his attempts at uncovering details about his parent’s romantic early years.  Love Hurts! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:10

Our February Story Slam happened to fall on Valentine’s Day. Our theme was appropriately titled “Love Hurts!” Our winning story wasn’t about a romance, it was about a “bromance.” Patrick Carmody won with this story of his bond with a dear friend. Our next story is from a first time storyteller named Robin Renn. We loved this story about how she fell for a man in college. Our final storyteller is Ann Louise Ramirez! She tells a story about a romantic night out that took a wrong turn. Do you know of a local company that would like be our podcast sponsor? We would love to have a local company help us meet our podcast expenses. If you want to learn more, email me at wcstoryslam@aol.com and I can forward info. Well, that’s our podcast for this month!  Good Times, Bad Times | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:21:20

Welcome to the West Chester Story Slam Podcast. Our theme to start off 2017 was Good Times/Bad Times. It was a nod to Led Zeppelin, but this theme provided our storytellers a blank pallette to tell their tales. We’re switching up the order of the stories today. Let’s start with Cathy Sikorski. Cathy has been on our stage before, telling several humorous stories over the years, and this is one of my favorites. I have to admit, I wasn’t sure where this was story was going when she first started. Craig Smith was a first-time storyteller, and he scored big time with this story. Here is his tale about chasing his career dream in the deep south. A word of warning, this story has some cursing so you may want to turn the volume down if kids are in the room. This next story edged out the previous two to win the January Story Slam. Obviously, we all know our country has been experiencing political turmoil in recent months. Diane Yannick tells her story of working through her own feelings on this issue. If you are a fan of the West Chester Story Slam podcast - please let your friends know, or write a review on iTunes.
