Just some jammin on a CH tune!
Based on Marion Reece's beautiful and unique fiddle version. Played by Bob Lanham on a Bart Reiter Bacophone-Plus banjo. Tuning: gEADE.
Played using index lead 2-fingers.

An old square dance tune I learned.
Adrian's Hornpipe was recorded by great Missouri fiddler Bob Walters. I was happy to play and record this nice tune on January 10th at Rhys Jones' house in Warrenton, VA. This was my first time out on this tune and I chose 3-finger style, which is appropriate for a Missouri Valley tune. Rhys Jones-fiddle Steve Arkin-3-finger banjo Jason Ashby-guitar
Just an experiment related to a thread about the tuning folks used for Shady Grove. Just picked up my seldom-used fretless, twisted the knobs arbitrarily until it sounded cohesive, and then tried to find Shady Grove. This was admittedly recorded on about the third take so it didn't sound TOO lost and awful, but conversely this was only the third take so forgive any rough edges.

My arrangement of this lovely New England tune, played on a Cedar Mountain D model banjo, tuned aFACF (f#DF#AD capo 3) to put it in its correct key. I'm accompanied by myself on uke.

Thought I'd give Mark Johnson's great tune of the week a try. Anything he and Henry Reed do are great learning tools. I do it in open G tuning, 5th string spiked to an A, in the key of A. As challenging as a first grader learning to tie his shoes......
Fun tune from a weekend back in གྷ. Steve Srubas in standard tuning/pitch on his Lee, I'm on a nylgut-strung fretless tuned down to the key of G from gCGCD.

Ed Britt and I recorded this for the Tune of the Week for 1/27/12. I am three finger picking on my semi-fretless Tubaphone, Ed is playng clawhammer style on his OME. Both of us are in open G tuning.
