This week, Dave King reports from the site of the ODAC softball tournament in Salem, VA and is joined by JJ Nekeloff, SID and Associate Commissioner of ODAC.  Besides reporting on the results of the first day of the tournament, they talk about JJ’s work for the ODAC as well as the advantages of Presto Sports, the company that will be hosting the new EMU athletics webpage in the fall. In the midst of their  Mennonite Central Committee Take Your Place tour Canadian singer/songwriter Kim Thiessen, accompanied by Darryl Neustaedter Barg and storyteller Abe Janzen,  share music inspired by and stories about the courage of those confronting AIDS around the world. Since 2009, there has been a 19 percent drop in new HIV infections around the world. This is good news for many, including faithful married women who now are the most likely persons to contract the virus. Yet this good news is endangered as world governments cut back on funding to combat AIDS. More than ever, now is a time that Christians are called to take their place and take action to end AIDS. In this week’s “Inside Athletics,” Dave and James give the usual overview of the last few days in athletics events before turning their attention to the coming weeks. Dave reminds listeners of the unveiling of the 2010 ODAC Softball Championship banner and the men’s basketball banquet. **This podcast provides information for employees on EMU’s health plan who were not able to attend the seminars on March 30 and 31. Evan Bontrager from Everence (formerly MMA) presents information regarding the Bravo Wellness Plan that EMU will be adding in conjunction with the The Mennonite Educators Benefit Plan (EMU’s health plan). In these seminars offered on campus, he presented a justification for a wellness plan, provided information about the screenings that will take place in late April/early May, and discussed implementation of the plan. Dr. Johnson is director of the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and distinguished research professor at Alliant University in San Diego, Calif., as well as professor of clinical psychology at the University of Ottawa, Canada.   She has received numerous honors for her work, including the Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Couple and Family Therapy Award from the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Research in Family Therapy Award from the American Family Therapy Academy. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association.
