We decide to talk about something we have very little knowledge about. We talk about Milo Yiannopoulos getting actually banned from twitter. While not the main topic, the topic of verified accounts, and would that actually help or be a net positive. This is not on YouTube because hangouts apparently can’t publish to youtube … Continue reading "Security 122 – Twitter Verification"
We once again have to deal with the issue that antivirus for most people is useless. At the best case, it may help, but in the average case it slows down your computer. In the worst case, it actually adds viruses and malware to your computer.
Tom and I talk all the time about Linux, but we never discussed it. In fact, I just throw out the term Linux, but have no idea what it means. Hopefully, Tom a good overview in thirty minutes. (I took the audio from Blab)

We talk about the Google offerings that were shown at I/O. While happy that Google got around to offering encryption, we were not thrilled.
So Chaim gave a Tedx talk yesterday. We decided to expand further on the topic. I recommend downloading the episode. The video has horrible audio. Since we record separately, I was able to make it much better.
This week the news of who the inventor of BitCoin is. We don’t buy it. Brazil shuts down WhatsApp again because of encryption. The House passes a bill unanimously. Show notes are in the WhatsApp group. Comment, or find us to get access. @inthirty, @chaimtime, @samurailink3
We try to explain EULAs and AUPs in the easiest way possible. We talk about why you should try to read them, but understand it is meant for your lawyer not you. We finish by giving you best practices for work related issues.
Sorry, the video feed didn’t come through, so only audio. We talk more about WhatsApp, and some questions that came up.
WhatsApp became 100% end to end encrypted. This is awesome, and as the article says it made 1 billion people more secure. We talk about what all this means in what we want to be a useful FAQ. Forget Apple vs. the FBI: WhatsApp Just Switched on Encryption for a Billion People https://www.whatsapp.com/security/
We first start talking about Apple vs. FBI. We get into our main topic of real simple checkboxes you can check to make yourself more secure. Basically secure things you can do right now that won’t cost you time or money
[Note: I used the Blab.im audio, so let me know how it sounds.] We loosely cover the second half of our PFSense episode, mainly consisting of VLANs and OpenVPN. This stuff is hard, but very worth it once you figure it out. We tackle some news.
Chaim is setting up his home network, and Tom is walking him through. Today we talk about hardware. Next part is the setup.
We talk about the information learned from the last week of news regarding Apple vs FBI. Apple weighs in.
