The right magazines can be a huge help to wargamers. We share our picks to make your wargaming life easier. If you’re expecting the traditional wargaming magazines you’ll be in for a surprise. Support Jonathan through PATREON Air & Space Smithsonian American History Analog Science Fiction and Fact Biblical Archaeology Review History Today Locus: The Magazine of The Science Fiction & Fantasy Field Mailbag Via our Facebook page: Listener Matthew said about Episode 128: Wargaming Recon in 2015 “Yay. I’ve been listening for a little while now. I always keep your paper terrain episode around as a reference if I need it.” Sigur Squirrel of Battle Brush Studios said about a post on our Facebook page “Great magazine cover too.” Do you have questions, comments, or constructive feedback? Then please share it with us on Facebook, Twitter, or via e-mail at jonathan@wargamingrecon.com. I’m stunned and terribly saddened to hear of the passing of longtime listener Andrew. He helped to give the show the name Wargaming Recon. Andrew was a kind soul who selflessly gave of himself to help those around him. Despite being legally blind he taught children how to wargame.  Swamped Kickstarter with Ben Gerber & Dennis Hoyle – Wargaming Recon #135 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:55:09

Swamped is not your average quasi-cooperative game to be kickstarted. Designer Ben Gerber and Bellwether Games co-founder Dennis Hoyle discuss the Kickstarter project. Support Jonathan through PATREON The Kickstarter Goal: Raise $8,500 by June 6, 2015 at 6pm EDT Backer Levels: $12 = 1 copy of game, $22 = 2 copies and on up Stretch Goals: Backers choose which gets done first; 1) Upgrade Components, 2) Bonus Cards, 3) Art Variants Mailbag Via our Facebook page: Listener Jamie from Norway said “Congrats. Here’s to the coming bumper year!” Do you have questions, comments, or constructive feedback? Then please share it with us on Facebook, Twitter, or via e-mail at jonathan@wargamingrecon.com. I’m stunned and terribly saddened to hear of the passing of longtime listener Andrew. He helped to give the show the name Wargaming Recon. Andrew was a kind soul who selflessly gave of himself to help those around him. Despite being legally blind he taught children how to wargame. Wargaming Recon has lost a good friend in his passing. I ask all listeners to join me in a moment of silence in Andrew’s honor. iTunes/Stitcher Reviews Jamie Searle from Norway left a 5 star review on iTunes titled A Great Wargames Podcast saying “I’m really enjoying this show. I’ve listened to about 50 episodes now and found all of them to have real value. The range of topics is refreshing and the quality of production and guests really makes it a good listen. Wargaming Recon is mostly focused on historical miniature wargames, but enough different games and tangental topics are covered that it’s always interesting.” RobertD left a 4 star review on Stitcher Radio titled Historical Wargaming saying “Every episode has some great content related to wargaming in New England. It could be talking about a Convention with one of the directors, holiday buying ideas, or even just doing a mailbag episode.” Do You Like Wargaming Recon? Mailbag Via our Youtube page: Listener Ancient Thoughts commented about episode 132 on Youtube saying “Josho’s completely right with what he’s saying with how Ancient History magazines going to be different and understands the whole purpose of studying history is to recreate the past. The artwork is a huge factor aswell as the info and how its delivered because it gives an historically accurate picture and brings the ancient world to life. This new magazine would be extremely popular, same with their podcasts if more people just new about it.” Listener IDidSawABear commented about episode 132 on Youtube saying “If you give me a way to buy this in Canada, I will buy the crap out of each edition!” Listener David commented about episode 132 on our Facebook page saying “All around an enjoyable and informative discussion — of particular interest is this proposed new book of art work from Ancient Warfare Magazine. FREE Sample Issue: Get the free PDF. Support Jonathan through PATREON Mailbag Via our Facebook page: Listener Adam asked in response to episode 130 “Good podcast Jon. Steven it’s always interesting to me to hear the organizers side. How firm are you about not wanting a Flames of War tournament? It seemed like there was lots of space available for miniature war gaming on Sunday through that might be due to the weather.” Guest Steven Parenteau replied “What I should have said is we don’t have the space to run more than one tournament event at a time. Normally everyone wants a Saturday event leaving the tables empty Friday and Sunday. As I had said in our interview I always take submitted events before I fill it in with our staff events. So in short a Sunday Flames of War event is totally feasible. It may have looked empty this year because normally we have to shunt the RPGA area into the minis hall because of the Sunday brunch that normally goes on. This year the hotel management cancelled the brunch so we didn’t have to move the RPGA group into the minis area for space.” TAS-CON 2015 Unique way to kickstart a small convention. WHEN: Sat Mar 21, 2015 from 9am-11pm WHERE: Courtyard Marriott hotel in Milford, Massachusetts HOW: Back the Kickstarter for as little as $15 WHY: Variety of board and wargames plus Jonathan has a free press badge for him to attend.
