Episode 11: A Breath of Fresh Air | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Show notes Thank you for downloading Episode 11 of Clothed In The Lamb. Thanks to DeeDerGirl for her 5-star iTunes review! And welcome to all our new listeners! Events: The Sheep-to-Shawl Competition at the Denver Museum of Contemporary Art was a resounding success, with both teams provided by my local yarn shop, The Recycled Lamb. Here's a link to the video recap of the event. The Estes Park Wool Market will be held June 9-12 in Estes Park Colorado. There will be a podcaster meet up, and I look forward to seeing you there! And though it's not an event, be sure to check out our new Clothed In The Lamb group on facebook! Yarnin': I finished my second Aspen Boot Topper. I knitted the Little Shells Shawl for my mother out of Naturally Caron Spa in Berry Frappe. I finished Second Spring, my reversible intarsia scarf, and that pattern is now available here on the blog and on Ravelry. I knit that out of Frog Tree Alpaca Sportweight and loved it! My Norwegian Rose Socks are still on the needles. but I've decided to employ a surrogate sock knitter. I'm knitting a Swallowtail Shawl in Alpaca with a Twist Fino in the Twilight colorway. I'm working on a new cardigan pattern which I plan to release in the fall, so keep an eye out for that. The Aspen Tam Knit-A-Long is still going, though there hasn't been much activity! Visit the thread and join us any time! A Contest: Thank you so much to Cordrymum, AnneLena, aizome, MDNXgal, and sabraB for donating to the Japan relief effort. Since we only had 5 entrants in this contest, I've decided to award all of them their choice of either the Aspen Tam and Toppers or Second Spring patterns. Additionally, we have a winner of the copy of Design It Knit It by Debbie Bliss. And the winner, as chosen by random number generator is Gayle, who is MDNXgal on Ravelry! Congratulations! Beginning this episode, I hope to offer a prize drawing with every episode of Clothed In The Lamb. Big thanks to Sara Palmero of Creature Comforts Craftworks for her donation of this episode's fabulous prize! It's a 220-yard skein of 100% hand-dyed merino in her Earthside colorway.  Here's a picture. To enter the contest, just leave a comment here below the show notes. And good luck! Sara Palmero is a wonderful independent dyer and I know you'll love her work. She is offering Clothed In The Lamb listeners a 10% discount off anything in her Etsy shop from May 5 - May 20, 2011. You'll have to listen to the podcast to get the discount code. Also, Sara has recently become a podcaster herself. Her show is called Slinging Stitches in Color and is available on her blog. Check it out! In My Opinion: Ravelry.com is under-utilized. I mean people don't use it to its full potential. Do you think it's because of the technical aspect? I will be presenting a class called Unraveling Ravelry at my LYS The Recycled Lamb on May 12, 2011 from 6-8 pm. If you'd like to get better and using this valuable knitting resource, contact The Recycled Lamb and reserve your spot today. Mandarin Minute: This episode's word, qing, means "please." It is pronounced in the third tone. Lovely: I've been listening to some new podcasts that I want to share with you. Check these out: The Knit Wits, CraftLife, and Torah Threads. Show notes Episode 8 of Clothed in the Lamb is sponsored by Audible.com. Check out two great offers for our listeners here! Thanks to WhiteDaisy76 and Christine for their comments on the show notes page. Also to NancyArtCrafts and Liz for commenting on the Reversible Intarsia Class blog post. Yarnin': I finished my Mother Bear bear. You still have time to finish your bear for the Mother Bear Project. Dr. Gemma of the Cogknitive Podcast, who is leading this KAL/CAL, has extended the deadline to March 1. When you have finished your bear, post a picture in this thread for inclusion in Dr. Gemma's drawing. I am sample knitting one more Second Spring (formerly known as the Falling Leaves Scarf). The new name is derived from a quote by Albert Camus. I’m still working on another design project which will include patterns for a pair of boot toppers as well as for a matching hat. Keep an eye out on this blog for that pattern's soon release. I’m planning to enter this hat into The Recycled Lamb's March Mad Hatter's contest. How'd Ya Do That?: How to knit reversible intarsia. Adventures in Listening: I'm nearly finished with the unabridged version of Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy: A Righteous Gentile vs. the Third Reich by Eric Metaxas.  Audible.com has two great offers for Clothed In The Lamb listeners. You can find out more about both of those here. Mandarin Minute: This episode's word, niunai, means "milk." It is pronounced in the third tone. Lovely: My husband took me on an awesome Valentine's Day date to a lovely local restaurant, The Briarwood Inn. Prayer Shawl: HeLivesWWJD requested prayer for her father's outreach trip to Mexico.  Betani (Elise of the Knit Misadventures podcast) asked us to pray for her grandmother who has recently fallen and broken her C2 and who now has water on the brain. Also, we pray for the loved ones of a family of 5 killed in a Denver car accident this week. If you would like prayer for you or someone you know, you may post your request on the Prayer Shawl thread of the Clothed In The Lamb group forum at Ravelry.com. Optionally, you may e-mail your request directly to me at podcast@clothedinthelamb.com. Share as much or as little as you wish, and I look forward to praying for you.  Episode 7: Where Everybody Knows Your Name | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Show notes Episode 7 of Clothed in the Lamb is sponsored by Audible.com. Check out two great offers for our listeners here! Thanks to and CurlyDeb and Bremen for their comments on last episode's show notes! Yarnin': I muse a bit on Ecclesiastes 3, which you might remember as the words to Turn Turn Turn by the Byrds. My aunt received her Cedar Leaf Shawlette and loved it. I'm working on the leaf border of the  Cedar Leaf Shawlette I'm making for myself out of Cascade Venezia. I have  made progress on my Mother Bear bear. You still have time to finish your bear for the Mother Bear Project. Dr. Gemma of the Cogknitive Podcast, who is leading this KAL/CAL, would like us to get them in by Stitches West which begins on February 17. When you have finished your bear, post a picture in this thread for inclusion in Dr. Gemma's drawing. How'd Ya Do That?: I tell about how my cousin Tammy crocheted about 3 dozen scarves in 2 months! She used the Special Olympics Scarf pattern. So I gave this pattern a try and knocked out a quick scarf myself! Adventures in Listening: I'm currently listening to the unabridged version of Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy: A Righteous Gentile vs. the Third Reich by Eric Metaxas (author of Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery).  Audible.com has two great offers for Clothed In The Lamb listeners. You can find out more about both of those here. In My Opinion: I review the February - April 2011 issue of Cast On Magazine, published by The Knitting Guild Association. This issue has a great tutorial on brioche stitch. My favorite patterns in this issue include: the Checkerboard Pillow (p. 9), the Brioche Pullover (p. 15), the Leaves of Spring Socks, and the Hollow Oak Cardigan (p. 32). I ask your opinion on the Linen Lace Towels. There is a good yoke sweater tutorial in the magazine (p. 42). The big miss in this issue for me was the Mulberry Silk Elegance Unconstructed Jacket (p. 50). Cast On Magazine is available in many local yarn shops as well as online from the TKGA. Mandarin Minute: This episode's word, xue, means "snow." It is pronounced in the third tone. Ni hao, the word for "hello," demonstrates the main tone change rule associated with the third tone. Lovely: I just have to brag on my local yarn shop, The Recycled Lamb. It's a place that reminds me of the Cheers theme because it really is a place Where Everybody Knows Your Name. Prayer Shawl: Thanks to Vintage Inspired for her excellent suggestion for the Prayer Shawl thread. Rachel's sister Hannah had a healthy baby and she shared pictures.  We also have updates on "A," and Aunt Zila. After the death of my Uncle Don, we pray for his wife Pat and his sister Carolyn. We pray for my friend Mary who has recently had to put her mom in a nursing home.
