Undergraduate Chapel: Spring 2014 [Video]

Dr. Dennis Okholm discusses anger and its role - positively and negatively - in the Christian life, and discusses the negative ramifications of sinful anger and its potential to become deadly by becoming habitual.

Dr. Todd Pickett speaks to the Biola University community in chapel about the defining moments of the Christian year and focuses on Epiphany. He asks the community the question "where is God in our life right now?" and "How do we help others remember the beauty of Jesus?" He discusses the spiritual acts involved in learning to sense the epiphany of God in our lives.

Biola's Provost and Senior Vice President, David P. Nystrom, addresses the student body at the Spring 2012 Convocation chapel. He critiques our culture's obsession with getting what we want, when we want it, and suggests that patience, humility, and wisdom that come from being "old, slow, and back of the pack" are virtues we should cultivate as part of God's Kingdom.

Dr. Erik Thoennes teaches that the concept of communion with God relies on a Christian's fervor to share their God experiences with the people around them. He praises the disciples in the midst of the Resurrection, who found it important to encourage one another through sharing their experiences of God and perpetuating the good news of Jesus rising from the grave.

Dr. Dave Talley ushers in the Advent season with a message focused on the birth of Jesus as King. Drawing from his own experiences, Talley paints a picture of the humility and beauty found in the concept of the stable as throne room, and the baby in a manger as King.

In light of the coming Thanksgiving break, the SMU staff takes a moment to step back and give thanks for the work God has done with prayer, music, and Scripture readings.

Los Angeles Director of Teen Challenge of Southern California, Henry Lozano, shares his story of heroin addiction and the long road that led him there. When Lozano finally sought out help, it was nothing less than the miraculous grace and truth of God that healed and transformed him, spurring him on to activism in the non-profit arena.
