Sadly, we received the news that Rynn Berry passed away earlier today. In his memory I will be airing an interview I did with him in 2009 on vegetarian history on this Tuesday’s It’s All About Food. Rynn was witty and smart. I and many others enjoyed reading all of his books on vegetarian history. His Vegan Guide to New York City has been very useful, especially before smart phones and I always carry mine with me when in NYC. Rynn Berry specialized in the study of vegetarianism from an historical perspective. He is the author of six books on vegetarianism: The New Vegetarians, Famous Vegetarians, Food for the Gods: Vegetarianism and the World’s Religions, Hitler: Neither Vegetarian Nor Animal Lover, and The Vegan Guide to New York City. His sixth book—Becoming Raw, he co-authored with vegan nutritionists Vesanto Melina and Brenda Davis.
