The Journey - Everything (Audio)
Summary: At The Journey, Jesus is the heartbeat of everything we do. He's what makes us go, who we live for, the person that we orient our lives around. We want our church to embody his love for each other and our city. While the doctrines that express our faith in him aren't everything, they help give shape to our faith.

Envy is when we want other people's stuff or even other people's life because we think it will bring more peace, joy and comfort than we are experiencing with our own stuff and our own life. In this sermon we will see that the true source of peace, joy and comfort is not found in stuff or even your own life, but in the future God provides because of what Christ has done.
We get angry when our stated or unstated goals are blocked. When we don't win, have influence, or feel like we're making progress, anger rears its ugly head. In this sermon we will see how forgiveness is the true source of power, and how in Christ we receive and extend it.
Fear is the opposite of love. We fear because sin separated us from God's acceptance in the garden. In this sermon we will explore the reality that we are afraid that we will never be able to get God's acceptance back...because we can't. But Jesus did.
Worry is the default mode of the human heart because we don't believe that God is in control. We worry because we try to secure the future. In this sermon we will learn to turn our worry into prayer, to renew our minds with the truth that God is in control.
The job of the Christian is not to save people. Christians are ambassadors, messengers of King Jesus, bringing to others the good news he brought to us. In this sermon we will hear how being a new creation in Christ means you...yes, you...are an ambassador for Jesus.
The final chapter of the story of God has only been partially written. Jesus died, but was not defeated by death. He conquered Satan, sin and death by rising from his grave. In this sermon we will learn about the resurrection of Jesus and the hope that brings to all of God's children.
The climax of God's story is the redemption of God's people. Knowing his people would continue to rebel against him God intervened in human history in the person of Jesus. In this sermon we will examine the perfect life and atoning death of the Son of God.
Though they enjoyed a perfect relationship with God, each other, and even the garden paradise God provided, Adam and Eve made a fatal choice to exchange their love of God for their love of self. In this sermon we will examine the sin of Adam and Eve and the implications of that sin for all of us.
We are told that Elijah was a man "just like us." He certainly doesn’t look like us, but he is an outstanding example of prevailing prayer, and teaches us secrets that we do well to take on board so that we might become far more effective. James tells us in his epistle that we can learn from this man. Recorded at The Journey-Tower Grove on March 2, 2010.
The first chapter in the story of God shows God as the Creator of all that we see and all that we don't see. God also created human beings and loved them perfectly. In this sermon we will study the Creator and the relationship he has with his creation.
The Bible is not a book about rules to follow or things we need to do. The Bible is the story of God and what he has done on our behalf. In this sermon we begin our Foundations series by looking at the source of the story of God.
The result of a life of worship is a life of service. In this sermon we will see how spiritual disciplines deepen our worship of God, which fuels us for service in the church and beyond.
Some Christians pray as if God is a cosmic genie, granting wishes and doing the bidding of those who pray the most or the best. Others treat prayer like a fire alarm—PULL IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. In this sermon we will see that the Bible shows us a variety of ways not only to think about prayer but to actually pray.
Jesus began his ministry with forty days of solitude. Before he ever performed a miracle or preached a sermon, he got away from people so he could get time with God. Jesus was a fan of solitude. In this sermon we will see why we should be fans too.
Discipline isn't sexy. It's not easy. It's early mornings. It's sacrifice. This is why most of us avoid discipline. In this sermon we will see that the key for a fuller experience of God may just be found in the disciplines we've been avoiding.
