In the past few episodes of this podcast, you have learned how to fairly read the piano sheet music but there is still something missing. Those numbers are called time signatures. Time Signatures are used to identify a measure as to both the number of beats and the value of each beat because we divide music into beats. You can think of the beat as the 'pulse' of the music. It consists of two numbers; the top number represents the number of beats contained in a measure. The bottom number represents what type of note gets one beat. There are more different time signatures than you are aware of. This lesson will provide everything that you need. One of the most important and essential part of a piano sheet music and learning how to play the play the piano are the two clefs. In a piano sheet music there are five lines which are called staffs. In the beginning of each staff are musical symbols which are the clefs. It is essential to understand them as they will determine whether you play a certain piano note high or low on a piano. The Treble clef is usually played by the right hand and plays the melody of the music while to Bass clef plays the rhythm of the music and uses the left hand. Both clefs are important as together they create beautiful piano music. The better you understand the clefs and the piano notes will help you get a better piano sight reading skills along the way.
