 INTERVIEW: Mike Ruggles, super-manny, SUPERNANNY | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:15:00

The world’s first Super-Manny, Mike Ruggles, meets his match with a chaotic family of six from Colorado, on ABC’s “Supernanny,” when “Super-Manny Special: Griswold Family” airs on Friday, Dec. 4 @ 8 p.m. on ABC. Ruggles is a warm Chicagoan with over 17 years’ experience as a teacher and developmental therapist for children. He focuses on the specific challenges presented by this family. After an observation period, he kicks the parents out of the house and gives the kids a voice by using role-playing techniques to determine some of the root problems, as the parents watch from a monitor. In the Griswolds’ case, this provides a tearful comeuppance for Mom and Dad as Joe confesses his fear of his father and imitates his dad’s rages. In addition, Mike has some tough talk for Roberta about the continued effect of her negativity on the family and her marriage -- if things continue down this path, failure is assured. Super-Manny also creates an unforgettable interventional moment with Brianna, forcing her to confront the potential consequences of alcohol abuse by meeting survivors of car accidents that involved drinking and driving. Young Lauren weeps as Mike leaves the house later, in fear that her family will revert to their old habits. But Super-Manny has some powerful and innovative ways to break through to everyone including taking the whole family on a camping trip. It’s a Griswold Family Vacation unlike any other, and it will change their lives.

INTERVIEW: Parke Puterbaugh, biographer, PHISH | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:30:00

Drawing upon nearly 15 years of exclusive interviews with the members of Phish and those in their employ, veteran music journalist Parke Puterbaugh delivers an insightful and authoritative biography of this beloved band and their quixotic career. Phish: The Biography thoroughly traces the quartet’s history from their formative years to their spectacular success as a prolific touring phenomenon. Puterbaugh examines the colorful chemistry - the unique mix of personalities, backgrounds and talents - that inspired the members of Phish to push their four-way experiment to the limit. The book also candidly addresses the bumps in the road that followed Phish’s ascent to popularity, as rock’s hardest-working band also became one of its hardest-partying entities. Mounting excesses and internal dissent led to a two-year hiatus, a dramatic breakup, and a well-documented drug bust and courageous recovery from addiction for guitarist Trey Anastasio. The tale concludes with Phish’s triumphant reunion in 2009, marking one of the greatest comebacks in music history. An intimate and fascinating portrait, Phish: The Biography is the definitive story of these Vermont jamband legends. A former senior editor for Rolling Stone magazine, Puterbaugh has written or cowritten numerous books and magazine articles on music, travel, the environment and other subjects.  INTERVIEW: Elisabeth Leamy, consumer correspondent, GOOD MORNING AMERICA | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:30:00

STARTS @ 10:45 a.m.! Every tip in Elisabeth Leamy’s book, Save Big, has the potential to save readers at least a thousand dollars. Anything less didn’t make the cut. “I don’t believe in penny pinching,” writes Leamy. “I like to pinch $1,000 bills!” In fact, there are $1,176,916 worth of savings examples in the pages of Save Big--welcome news in this troubled economy. Sound impossible? “The key is to identify the areas where you spend the most money, because that’s where you can save the most money,” Leamy says. Save Bigis the antidote to the depressing advice we’ve been hearing for years that we should banish lattes from our lives, install low-flow showerheads and pack our own lunches. “Why give up life’s little pleasures and conveniences,” Leamy asks, “when you can save much more money by attacking a few BIG, boring expenses instead?” For more original interviews with your favorite TV stars, visit Mr. Media Radio.

INTERVIEW: Richard Doetsch, novelist, THE 13th HOUR | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:30:00

“One simple selfish act can reverberate through time, through life, robbing a stranger of his existence. A loved one could meet her death from the repercussions of a moment or an event she may never know or understand. Yet if this one moment didn’t occur, if it could be found, could be taken back, the lives it touched could be changed, could be altered, and that one life saved.” This is the quandary 32-year-old Nicholas Quinn faces in bestselling author Richard Doetsch’s utterly original, utterly ingenious new thriller, The 13TH Hour. Doetsch swiftly garnered a reputation as a gifted writer with the publication of his debut, The Thieves of HeavenThe Thieves of Faith (2007). He is renowned for his fast-paced narrative, great characters, and tantalizing plots, and his novels vividly reflect his sense of adventure. This is because while many authors choose to write about thrills, Richard Doetsch has actually lived his life experiencing them. Hollywood certainly agrees. The 13TH Hour was snapped up by New Line Cinema in a heated auction between several major studios and is in active production, with Michael De Luca producing and Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (“Wanted” / “3:10 to Yuma”) as screenwriters. Doetsch’s first novel, The Thieves of Heaven, is also being developed by 20th Century Fox. For more original interviews with your favorite novelists, visit Mr. Media Radio.
