After traveling as much as I have ever the last couple of years and having a passport that looks older than the pyramids, this Tour De Beats has revealed so much to me. The DJ has to live up to adding to an incredibly designed and thought out platform; best lasers, best lighting and sound displays I have ever witnessed. Did I feel the pressure? YES, but that's the pressure I want to feel to push myself creatively and live up to the task that the many masters before me accepted. When I tell you that room was HOT, it was not because of global warming. MAGNITUDE/Folsom Street weekend... I remember having that feeling when I first played at Cameo theatre in Miami and Alegria at Crobar with DJ ABEL. Get ready world, I am going to be doing plenty more of this. Though I rarely do it, I allowed my set to be recorded. My friend DJ Jack Chang told me it was totally cool and this guy is amazing. What he did to rev up that room for MAGNITUDE was just pure brilliance. Every set I do is emotional for me. I leave my soul open to join with all of you on the dance floor. I channel all of those emotions and I come prepared and confident to meet you with music in me and available to me. From there, let's take that ride together to do something special. In September of 2013, I pulled out all the ammunition I had prepared to follow (with my energy) the path to take you on a provocative and sensual journey. The history of San Francisco's MAGNITUDE party is known throughout the world as the premiere event to explore your mind and body. The DJ has to live up to adding to an incredibly designed and thought out platform; best lasers, best lighting and sound displays I have ever witnessed. Did I feel the pressure? YES, but that's the pressure I want to feel to push myself creatively and live up to the task that the many masters before me accepted. When I tell you that room was HOT, it was not because of global warming. MAGNITUDE/Folsom Street weekend... I remember having that feeling when I first played at Cameo theatre in Miami and Alegria at Crobar with DJ ABEL. Get ready world, I am going to be doing plenty more of this. Though I rarely do it, I allowed my set to be recorded. My friend DJ Jack Chang told me it was totally cool and this guy is amazing. Looking through my music books, I found a group of music that focused around a private party in 2011.  It was intimate, hot and charged with spontaneity and excitement.  I tapped into that experience by releasing myself to crete what I think is the next best thing to being there. The summer is upon us and there is no greater way to spend an afternoon than on the beach enjoying your friends and loved ones. When you include an event that totally encapsulates that day, the right music, special things happen. You make new friends. You have more reasons to smile and feel your blessings versus counting them. Then there's the DJ giving everything he's got to create those magical memories that stay with you forever. As I put my heart into this I thought SOUVENIRS FROM THE SUN was the perfect name for this SANDBLAST event. The titles I chose for this podcast come from what inspires me most about music, messages. I am sending messages through songs I've written and produced along with songs, tracks and remixes by artist and talent that I have such great respect for. Among the many familiar and classic tracks, I have created and added new tracks that I hope will join the classics ranks. I send a very special thank you to Deborah Cox, who is an incredible collaborator and friend. Together, we have gone into the studio again to create one of my proudest works yet titled, "A New Life". This new work was inspired by one of the many hit songs from the musical JECKYL AND HYDE. It's premier is happening on this podcast FOR YOU! When it is released. please show your love and support. Also, a special thanks to Joe Gautheraux who came to me with and idea about the classic song "Souvenirs" by Voyage. I brought the incredible Michelle Weeks in to put that diva touch to it and you are hearing Stage 1 of the future hit anthem Let's Find A Place". You can also hear for the first time a song that I wrote with an incredible songwriter, Phil Galston who wrote "Save The Best For Last" for Vanessa Williams. New Years was banging from everywhere around the globe this year. You did not have to be there to channel into it. For me, in 7 days, I had that celebration rushing from Belo Horizonte to Tai Pei. They were amazing and they were living for every moment as was I. But now, I had one more stop to go to and give it on NYE; my hometown of NYC, and it was going to be a long and crazy night for sure. Getting on that plane in Taiwan, I knew that I would actually be able to feel my first sunrise of the year and it would continue rising as my set went on, but I would enjoy it for sure when I was done at XL in New York. Since I knew we would be going 'til very late, I decided that after I was sure that I have served them properly with my fully loaded library, that I was going to entertain them in another way musically. XL changed the color and décor of the room and it became a land of classics being played with a rising sun. Perfect. I made selections for my set by going for titles (which I partially obsessed over) that have touched me, changed me or gave me the courage to accept change as I was living here within a talent pool of maestros that is legendary after legendary. Respect to you all. For all my friends and fans out there, please understand, you don’t have to come from New York to feel it, and much of the music originated in other great cities, but they inspired me here and I hope you enjoy this and have a Happy New Year, Tony.
